Well, this should only come as a surprise to those who don't know what's happening with Sporting. I think losing 3-1 to Partizan isn't that bad. In fact, they lost by 4-0 last saturday to Paços de Ferreira (who?)
Why? Because they lost their 5 most influential players:
- Sporting didn't accept Phil Babb and André Cruz (the CBs) proposals to renew their contracts.
- João Pinto is suspended until October for punching that ref in the WC.
- Hugo Viana was sold to Newcastle.
- Jardel, the best goal scorer in europe, decided he won't play again in Portugal and is currently resting in his home town.
On top of that, add an unrecognizable Niculae to the equation and the result is LOSSES.
It's sad what happened to Nicu, guys. He had that severe injury last year and I can tell you that he's not the same player. He lost his speed, his power... He sucks, now, SUCKS!
But it doesn't matter anyway. FC Porto beat that Polish team by 6 nil.
