How was C. ronaldo - did he do anything interesting?

Well, when he entered the game in the 2nd half he dribbled two defenders and almost scored. He also went past Kazakhstan's defenders most of the times showing his fantastic technique as well as some good passing.

In my opinion he was the man of the match, as well as Miguel ( Benfica's RWB ).

The game was very bad with most of the players miles away from their ideal form... :(

I think with Sporting needing a forward, they could sign Baleshev. What a surprise! Good technique, fast dribbling, speedy... gave many hard work to Couto and Meira, and afterwards, Jorge Andrade.

I think if the game ended 1-1, mostly for the first half, it wouldn't be totally unfair.

I think Scolari summed it up yesterday, it wasn't a good game for us, but we came away with the result, and in a tournament that's all that really matters.

A low scoring goal against a minnow team doesn't mean they will do badly next time.
My point exactly, which is basically what Scolari said yesterday.

This is the same thing that happened against Macedonia, except their(Kazakhstan's) defence(or team), tired down our team. If we put in 11 players into the team at say the 65th or so, we could've taken the game, because Kazakhstan just didn't have the possession to get away with anything, and this is more true for the second half.

To me that just sounds like Scolari turning dogsh!t into diamonds....Oliveira did the same thing before the WC after the Finland disaster, then it was after the USA game.....and the rest is history.

I don't think the problem is with coaching though, because I think Scolari is doing a good job generally. The problem is with some of the players mentality in games of this nature.....they need to realize that there are NO easy games anymore, regardless if we're playing Argentina or Luxembourg.

I agree. Some Portugal players think they're stars and that they dont need to run to beat these " easy " teams as they might think of them.
Although i have to admit that i've had some good laughs at seeing Luis Figo get fooled by Kazakhstan players with that star look on his face :crazyboy:, i mean ok it was a fool as the referee said, so why dont they stand up and continue playing instead of arguing with thee referee in some cases ?

You DID see that it was 1-0 PORTUGAL right? We got the result, I'd rather play crap and get the result, then to play great and have to draw, just because another team uses 11 defenders. And this is TOTALLY uncomparible to the World Cup tragedy or the Finland game. Not to mention that the World Cup was a totally different issue then the Finland friendly.

it doesn't matter, the root problem is the the same for all those situations. Sure we won on a very lucky goal, we got the result, but next time we might not be so lucky...and certainly not agaist stronger opposition. Our players have always had poor attitudes in games against "weaker" teams, and it's not a new phenomenon either. It's been happening since the 70's at least!

I thought Scolari would be the type of coach to change this, but it seems like he still has a ways to go..
