can someone please give me a link for direct x 8.1 for win xp. I have a bad feeling i was ripped off when i bought win xp. I bought it for like $100 cheaper than anywhere else, and everytime i try to get direct x 8.1 from the windows website they say i have an illegal copy....

If you bought the copy from a legitimate source then call the Microsoft Piracy helpline. If you bought it from "a friend" or some other less-than-reliable source then I'm afraid that's your own fault. All Microsoft Products come with a certificate of authenticity and a hologramatic compact disc.

BTW I have the same Rainbow players problem. I have Win98se, the latest video drivers (detonators), directX 8.1, riva vanta card
I have the same problem.
But I'm using Windows XP, with Nvidia TNT 2, latest drivers and Directx 8.1, I don't know what else I can try.
I installed every driver from Nvidia, but nothing........
If someone can help me......

The best thing to is to re-install the game and just play with the rainbow colours until there is a fix to this problem espessially with those who have nVidia TNT-TNT2-TNT2Pro-TNT2 Ultra...

well i haf the same problem man. I think its just because our video cards arent compatible. If you read the readme file, theres TONS of video cards which they say are NOT compatible with the game..even though mine is (Intel Graphics Controller)...and i downloaded the latest driver and it still dun work. anyone know how to overcome this with my Intel Graphics Card?? HELP!
