i dont know if many of u europeans know about him,

but hopefully u soon will:D

ive seen on the TV just now that Barcelona are close to completign a 7 Million Euros buy of Monaco Central Mexican Defender Rafael Marquez,

personally i think thats great, he will prove that he is one of the better defenders in the world :) well i hope so anyways.

Hugo Sanchez was the last mexican to play ofr Barca ;) and look how well that went

Hugo Sanchez played in Real Madrid and his relations with Barça supporters were very bad. I still remember him grabbing his balls and looking at people in Nou camp.

About Marquez, I've heard on catalan Tv that the deal is almost done between Monaco and Barcelona, so Marquez will play for Barça next season. It seems that the other option, who was Ayala, has been declined because valencia asked for too much money.

He is supposed to be a very good player. Let's hope he will have the same succes in barcelona than hugo sanchez had in madrid.

By the way, Marquez arrival could mean Riquelme will leave Barcelona, as there are too many non EU players.

if this does happen it will be long over due since hes been trying to get out of Monaco for the last year and a half now.

Yup, he's very good, he played like a star against Italy at the worls cup. That's how I know him. I saw a couple of games with Monaco but he played in different positions. He's better at right center back.

He has very good talent with the ball for a Defender so thats why he played in the midfield with Monaco sometimes

But Barcelona made the offer first and he wants to get out from Monaco fast some people say that Real Madrid offered 3 times more, but the transfer to Barca is 90% confirmed,

This is the 2nd Marquez to Barca thread... anywayz IMO Barca should do it, because IMO he is a great replacement to De Boer, though unlike De Boer, Marquez has a fiery temper (remembre Mexico vs. Usa WC 2002?) Though he is skilled (Remember Mexico vs. Italy WC 2002) I rest my case;) :D

so u consider him to be "fiery" on his actions in TWO games? thats like me saying Korea is better than Italy and Spain since they best them at the WC.

Not that this matters but I happen to be listening to the radio this morning, they were talking about him and said he will make $150k a month with Barca
