Rafael van der Vaart is the greatest talent in the Netherlands. He is 19 years old and he now plays @ AJAX Amsterdam. If u haven't seen him play then watch Arsenal - AJAX on 18/02/2003. He isn't stoppable. He has the brilliancy of Dennis Bergkamp, but is a goal getter from behind the strikers (number 10 position), he always wears number 23.

He will probably leave in 1-3 years to a club in Spain (Barcelona/Real Madrid), but really every big club is interested in him.

(Arsenal - AJAX gives also a great chance to check out Zlatan Ibrahimovic (who scored 5 goals in the CL), Christian Chivu and Hatem Trabelsi. Chivu is one of the best central defenders right now. Together with Trabelsi he was asked to play for the Allstars against Real Madrid, but at that time they were both slightly injured and called of.

It is a fact that Chivu will go to Real Madrid very soon, probably when the season ends.)

Thanx for sharing, but we have a good contingent of people here from holland, including me, who already have stated that he's going to be our best player in coming years. So to put it short. "We already knew, thanx".

and on that note, has anyone seen this kid from Everton, I think his name is Rooney? You saw it here first!

Didn't Cruyff say he was not impressed with Van Der Vart? Seems Holland is just desperate for some good talent right now as the old guard begins to bow down. They blew it at Euro 2000, and didn't even qualify for Korea/Japan, and now prospects aren't looking up for them in the near future. I can see why Dutch would immidiatly give a young player, with a little bit of talent, God status. They're desperate.

Everybody knows 'Roonaldo' from Everton and Holland has won every game under the new trainer Dick Advocaat, so it isn't going bad with the Dutch team

You are forgetting van der Vaart was voted European talent of the year two years ago Jayway. So, its safe to assume he is extremely talented.

That is a wrong example because:
- Ronaldo was voted best player of 'the world'
- Ronaldo was the most famous player. Ronaldo had the biggest name of all players to choose from that's why he also got it wheter he deserved it or not. Most talents don't get chosen by their status, v/d Vaart never showed his talents outside of the border two years ago.

Dude. First we didn't blew it at Euro 2000. We just missed the freeaking penalties against those ****ing cowards from Italy, but yeah we missed so that's our loss. But to say we blew it?

Second, yeah we missed the WC, we were sad about that but have gone past it. Big teams tend to miss out sometimes. We've been unbeaten for a whole year under the new coaching duo Advocaat/Van Hanegem.

Prospects aren't looking up for us in the near future? Uhmm yes they do, we are very promising and being declared favourites to win Euro 2004 already.

Finally we're not giving Van der Vaart the god status. He's just a freaking great talent. English are giving young players a god status. Just look at the excitement over Milner and Rooney, while Van der Vaart has done those things for 2 years already.

I agree. The English media are retarded and have an attention span of 5 minutes (and a memory just as long) - they'll build up Rooney just like they did Alan Smith ("agressive, young, English striker, bright future ahead of him") and when the time comes and he makes a mistake or two for England they'll hang him.

van der Vaart is a great talent. Already he has won the championship with Ajax, and last season he was an influential player for the current Champions.

He is, by no means, the greatest player ever lived, and I don't think he gets the 'god' status at all, but he is a superb talent. Watch him grace Euro 2004.
