my m/board suports 184pin dimms, DDR266 compliant modules, one wht do these mean?, two, which one would be appropriate PC2100 or 2700(i assume this has got smth to do with the speed or smth)?advise me ppl.

btw; what does parity and non parity means in context of course.

PC2100 = 266 MHz RAM
PC2700 = 333 MHz RAM
This is the processing speed, as is the 266 in DDR266.

Obviously, you'd need the PC2100.

184pin DIMMS describes the size of the unit (or DIMM). That's a standard size, but still check if it's correct on the unit you acquire.

Parity is a sort of system check. Don't let me explain it, coz it wouldn't get very clear. :p
I believe you don't really need it on normal PCs, but does come in handy for servers. Parity units are more expensive than non-parity.

Also btw, my m/board supports SDRAM(1 bank) and DDR(2 banks) and i know i can only use one of either types. Is it better to get two 256's or 1 straight 512 or is it irrelevant

DDR-SD is better than SD, so go for that. 512 Mb is cheaper in 1 unit, than in 2x 256, so the choice is yours. The extra slot is always useful for future upgrades.
