Rangers - UEFA uphold an appeal against their own decision.

noe UEFA have found Rangers fans guilty of "discriminatory chanting."

Next season it's a 3 point deduction for a first offence for any clubs indulging in this.

2nd offence and it's 6 points and for a 3rd offence it's relegation.

Which if it is strictly administered(and if away matches count) then Rangers, Celtic & Hearts will be in the Scottish first division by the time the clocks go back.

Will the Spanish Primera Liga have any teams left?

This will be interesting to watch Carlos*ie. Do you think the ruling will make a difference mate? I just cant see it changing anything immediately but once the first points have been deducted, then maybe the fans will have to cut it out.

I can't help thinking that UEFA won't strictly enforce these rules. If they do, Ibrox, Celtic Park, Tynecastle and quite a few other Scottish grounds might be shut down.

Also, what happens at Scotland matches when the first anti-English song is sung? And conversely, Will the new Wembley be closed down at the first rendition of "Stand Up If You Hate Scotland?"

I doubt it.

I don't think this will make a difference.
I just can't see supporters say to each other "Don't do this! We'll be three points down!". Can you?

Thats a bit fresh. Look at the tons of discrimination that has gone on in Spanish football. :boohoo:

As for Secratarianism no way should it be condoned. I mean in Nigeria its really bad in the streets. But in Scotland its in their football and its happened for so long up there. Maybe Rangers fans made some derogatory chants about the Spanish people and religion. There is some history there. But that is really a next level. We shouldnt go there. History is history.

I'm not going to preach but i think the government in many countries have been doing this type of discrimination for years. The stopping of certain religions and persecution in many countries. So they didnt exactly set a good example to the citizens. Now we have a problem.

The findings were based on Rangers two matches in the CL against Villarreal but it only came to this because the UEFA observer at a previous tie had noted the singing by Rangers fans of certain songs with a bigoted message. One in particular being "Billy Boys" which mentions killing Roman Catholics in it's lyrics. That's why Rangers are the most high-profile club being brought to heel so far. If UEFA are serious then there WILL be more. IF not, it'll be an opportunity wasted to make football stadia havens of tolerance.

That wasn't too smart was it? Singing anti catholic songs in Spain. Well it's not too smart to sing those songs anywhere I guess. It will be a huge step if UEFA do as they threaten though. Football does not need bigotry, religious or otherwise.

we hear that Lazio fans indulge in some very right wing political chanting and banners and flag-flying.

its a mystery why only teams in smaller leagues are the target of uefa's anti racist campaigns.

surely u must agree that Rangers are a major club despite playing in what is now a weak league. It's early days too. UEFA's planned punishments don't come into force until the start of the next European domestic season.

I should think the ruling applies to every single club in Europe. From the top leagues to the lower leagues. I shouldn't think any club will be exempt.
