Rant! Fifa 2005 promotional videos

Sup yall.

Being a fan of soccer in general and always given any game a chance, i thought i would check out fifa's new promo videos.

Let me say that i was a fan of fifa since fifa international soccer(its first release of the sega mega drive (sega genesis)) But for about a year or two now been playing PES3 and havent looked back.

ok with that out of the way, back to my rant, i was checking out the e3 video of fifa 2005, and it did look quite good, but for one huge stuff up.

The Climax to the video, where they imitate that fantastic goal Bergkamp scored, to me that looks really dodgy, the spin dosent look too bad but after he spins he dosent even connect with the ball when he strikes it, and the ball zooms in fast at a perfect angle, not only that but the body gesture of the player stiffens up when he shoots, it just ruins the whole video in my opinion.

Whats your thoughts on this?

i thought it looked rather good when he shot.

I imitated this move in one of my games. I scored!! I wish i had a replay.

Anyways. Gameplay wise the past fifas haven't exactly been the best. They were playable but the games would be nothing much if it didn't have licenses and the graphics with the presentation. It looks like its been changed. The "broadcast feature" sounds impressive, and this new on the ball control looks to be nice as well. I dont want to get my hopes too far up, but this game looks great.

As for finding the bergkamp move, it looked fine. Even if it was not perfect it wouldn't mind too much as long as the gameplay was good.

The Bergkamp move was pre-rendered, it won't be in the game I think, because it's a move you only make once in your whole life.

yeah i assumed it was pre-rendered, and that makes me hate is even more. It may be a pre-build promo so the characters animation might not be finished yet, but to me it looks like two animation sequences that they tried to blend in together, but what happens is he(Bergkamp) spins, animation is all smooth, ball falls to his feet, he stiffens up, then kinda gestures kicking in the direction where the ball is, and the ball zooms into the goals.

.. have a look at it again and tell me, do you really think it looks good.

i dont know, it may be me, being a designer and a practising 3d artist i pick up on things like this.. am i being too picky?.. i dont believe so.

No, it's garbage...you're right...the spin is tight, but the ACTUAL SHOT, and the way it comes off of his foot, and the sitffness of his leg takes away the TOTAL idea of realism, and what's funny is that THIS is their PROMOTIONAL video...this is what they think is their BEST stuff...sad. I really, HONESTLY, don't think that they actually understand that they script, draw up and otherwise reflect an arcade sense of football gaming, rather than a sense of playing football. They don't get that; the very fact that they give you a Bergcamp video like that shows you exactly the things you need to know, PARTICULARLY given FIFA's history of shodiness.

Meh...FIFA gets worse every year. I honestly though FIFA 2003 was the best out of all of them but still, it's so far behind now.

there is a new video on the fifa 2005 forum. Its not on the fifa site though as its not official. Some spanish people (so its all in spanish) did an hour long showcase of fifa 2005 and it looks nice!!

You should see the video, its great.

a bit off topic dont you think WEWEWE, hehe :P

but without a doubt i was going to try PES4, like i said ive been playing PES3 for almost a year now. but will give fifa a try as well. :)
