Same here, nowadays there are only two music genres that i loathe, rap and (heavy) metal.

While at the same time i can pretty much listen to everything that has melody etc.. I like older stuff though, doesn't necessarily mean i listen to it everyday, but the likes of "A Tribe Called Quest" and "De La Soul" for example, i can listen to. Although they belong to the "hip hop" category i believe.

Something like this i guess:

When yo say metal, do you mean nowadays metal or metal in general?
I guess metal in general. Just can't listen to it anymore. Hmmm i used to like Metallica and AC/DC when i was a lot younger for example, but they are a bit softer and qualify more under rock genre i think (the earlier Metallic not, though). But my taste in music has changed considerably over the years. :P

Basically it's safe to say Eminem hasn't made one decent record in ten years.
Encore was 2014, I mostly liked it.

Just another great artist that ran out of creative ideas and with that lost his relevance. It happens to the best of them, though, if not all of them at some point.
His early stuff was genius. One of the best modern day lyricists there was.

AC/DC aren't metal. Hard Rock maybe, but not metal. Very different sound.

Metallic are much more metal. Even their slower stuff has that epic metal sound to it.

Yeah that's what i thought. It's just that those two bands are the most closest to metal that i've ever listened to and enjoyed. That's why i used the word in the first place.

www.discogs.com - the site that i consider pretty trustworthy lists Metallica's older stuff as "thrash", "speed metal", "heavy metal" and some newer albums as hard rock.

You're 100% correct about AC/DC, which is listed as hard rock like you said. Fly On The Wall is probably my favourite album of theirs, while i don't think i could listen to Metallica anymore. I prefer lighter stuff.

AC/DC are the most unimaginative band in the world. They basically have written one song and copy pasted that for their entire catelog.

Metallica to me is 90 % noisy bullcrap and 10 % absolute bliss with songs that really talk to me.

Yep, ridiculous generalisation. There is a big difference between a band having a "sound" and everything being the same. There are plenty of bands that sound much more similar song to song - hell AC/DC have even had two different lead singers

I don't know. I like a band that actually goes through some creative development throughout their career, not one that for thirthy-something years straight basically reproduces the same exact concept (musically and lyrically) for each album and song every time.

Don't you like Blink182 or am I confusing you with a different guy?

By the way, I don't like AC/DC either, but that's because they're not really my type of band.

blink-182 have gone through a continuing creative development throughout their career centered around two major creative changes. One was in 1997-1999 when they got a new (certainly for punk rock standards highly technically skilled) drummer in Travis Barker and went from being a straight up SoCal punk rock band to a worldwide hitmachine with a distinctive pop punk sound. The second one was when they started to broaden that pop sound, away from the simple more is less punk rock ethic to more alternative, experimental and even progressive sounding records. They did all that while maintaining a unique and publically appealing character in their sound and the way they presented themselves. That results in six studio albums that each have their own unique identity, whilst still clearly being blink-182 musical products.

These all are creative changes and developments AC/DC never have gone through because of their lazy work ethic in strumming away songs in exactly the same manner for I don't know how many albums straight because it worked once in the 80's, and some 'music fans' are stupid enough to fall for that repeat of formula.

I understand your viewpoint but that does not mean that they're bad neither does it mean that going through what you call "creative development" is the way to go.

Haha, a blink182 fan arguing about that.

Trust me, I'm sure a hardcore AC/DC fan would say the same thing that you said about AC/DC that you said about Blink.

As an outsider, blink 182's music has always been very similar sounding, even their new singles. You're biased.

I think the same thing about Radiohead and The Strokes as you do about Blink 182. But most casuals say all their stuff sounds the same.
