What the hell else do you want hip-hoppers or rappers to sign about? Bush and Osama Ben Laden? They don't even give a **** about it or probably don't understand anything that's happening. Most of them don't even have a CRAP education, nevermind college. Kanye West went to college and he doesn't sign about his bitches and hoes or his blings. Like i mean what can 50 Cent, Mike Jones, Ja Rule or Fat Joe sign about? They can sign about their life and events in their life and that's what they do, surely you don't want them to sign about sports now, do you?

I don't think I'm cool or smart because I listen to Kweli, I think he has a lot of good things to say and his opinions are very in line with mine and I think some of the issues he brings up are far more important than anything on this earth because it's the progress of humanity as a whole. If I'm on a high horse it's because I have a well thought out opinion about life and modern society that people like you don't understand. I know you are never going to read dense philosophy (much less relavent stuff if you decided to prove me wrong), so to introduce you to some issues, you should listen to the man's music.

Oh, and yeah Illmatic has some great beats on it.

I think you'd like some Immortal Technique, I can upload a few songs for you if you want.

I'm not trying to hate here, but popular artists include Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Dre, etc, and yet we all respect them despite their popularity. So everything in here is garbage rap?

Droppin' whack songs, like you don't give a ****
I ain't got nothin' against nobody trying to make a decent living
It ain't the money that's the issue

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

The voice of racism preaching the gospel is devilish
A fake church called the prophet Muhammad a terrorist
Forgetting God is not a religion, but a spiritual bond
And Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the Qu'ran
They bombed innocent people, tryin' to murder Saddam
When you gave him those chemical weapons to go to war with Iran
This is the information that they hold back from Peter Jennings
Cause Condoleeza Rice is just a new age Sally Hemmings
I break it down with critical language and spiritual anguish
The Judas I hang with, the guilt of betraying Christ
You murdered and stole his religion, and painting him white
Translated in psychologically tainted philosophy
Conservative political right wing, ideology
Glued together sloppily, the blasphemy of a nation
Got my back to the wall, cause I'm facin' assassination
Guantanamo Bay, federal incarceration
How could this be, the land of the free, home of the brave?
Indigenous holocaust, and the home of the slaves
Corporate America, dancin' offbeat to the rhythm
You really think this country, never sponsored terrorism?
Human rights violations, we continue the saga
El Savador and the contras in Nicaragua
And on top of that, you still wanna take me to prison
Just cause I won't trade humanity for patriotism

Oh yeah, speaking of Nas and beats. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this already.

Nas recently paid the Neptunes $2m for a beat. A bunch of rappers were trying to get it but Nas paid the most... supposed to be the hottest beat in hip hop.

I think so, too.....by the way he describes his taste for music.

Couple of songs you might wanna give a listen to........

Technique:

The 4th Branch
The Cause of Death
The Prophecy
and my favorite.........Caught in a Hustle
Although I think he puts the truth out there stronger than Kweli. I mean he puts it out there in the most obvious and clear way. IMO, anyway.

^was just listenin' to that **** too. Technique is legend.

roll up the hierva, y pasala, para la izquierda'
put the price up to listen to me pop sh*t
'cause I got Martha Stewart giving me stock tips
underground money with honeys up in the whip
Bangbus.com, nigga f*cking your bitch

Attempts to extinguish me don't even bother me none
Like retarded kids throwing ice cubes at the sun
A victory against Immortal Technique will never be done
Just degrees of losing it every second your adding one
Some niggas dream of pushing kilos but I drop tons
With more facts and formulas and philosophical logic
Than a basement full of scientists puffing on chronic

like I said.....legend.

I don't agree with a some of the things he says, he's a bit too extreme in his views.

But his choice of words and his delivery is why I like listening to him.

I doubt that there could ever be a more wicked MC

he is very extreme.....that's why I listen to his songs for a good period of time, but then the songs get depressing and then I stop listening for a while.

But then again, he has a handful of songs that are pretty chill and not that extreme. One(remix), Caught in a Hustle, You Never Know...etc.

I really don't think he cares about a contract at all.

**** a record deal, I want development land
With my benevolent clan
And that's the reason that I only trust my fam
40,000 records sold, 400 grand
**** a middle man, I won't pay anyone else
I'll bootleg it and sell it to the streets my self
I'd rather be that than signed and stuck on a shelf

And because of this executives try to diss me
Racism frozen in time like Walt Disney
And now they say they wanna get me signed to the majors
If I switch up my politics and change my behavior
Try to tell me what to rhyme about over the beat
Bitch niggas that never spent a day in the street
But I repeat that nobody can hold my reigns
I put the truth on tracks nigga, simple and plain

That's the main thing that seperates him from let's say 50 Cent. 50 raps to sell and Tech. raps to speak the truth and express his beliefs. Simple as that. People won't pay to hear someone preach on records...they pay for club hits and what not.

Make America Great Again
I like Kweli because he really doesn't get caught up in black/white bull****, we're all the same people and we need to further the progress of humanity for every human. The whole lyric in Around My Way where he says he isn't a Christian, Muslim, or anything like that, but he knows Jesus like the Apostles do is awesome.

Of course I also enjoy NWA, Biggie, and a lot of the whole West Coast Dre crew from the mid/late nineties, so it doesn't always have to be significant, but if you got something to say I'm interested in hearing it. I also don't want to try to sound like some head or anything like that because I'm relatively new to hip hop and don't know nearly enough about it, but since all rock is such garbage at this point hip hop is the best thing out there.

And yeah, I'll get my Limewire on an Immortal Technique album tomorrow.

Make America Great Again
One of my favorite lyrics...

People say success of mine comes from my intelligence.
No, it's 'cause I'm dope, if I was whack I'd be irrelevant.

This here is exactly the problem with most mainstream/radio-play rap... It leaves people with an impression that all hip-hop is on the level of G-Unit and friends. Pretty sad because it just diminishes hip-hop on the whole as a legitimate art form. To judge all rap/hip-hop based on 50 cent and Ja Rule is like saying all rock sucks because of bands like err..I dunno, Linkin Park or some other manufactured sh!te. (not too familiar with the whole rock scene these days..)

It's alright though, whenever I hear 'candy shop' or something on the radio, I just pop some Binary Star in the CD player and my faith in humanity is restored..

Senim Silla & One Man Army (aka. One Be Lo) are Binary Star

I don't really feel Imortal Technique myself, too aggressive/political for me these days. I recognize his talent and what he's saying, but I think he's the kind of thing I would have listened to like 10 years ago. These days I seem to prefer topics that deal with more personal everyday life issues..

ShiftyPowers, you'd probably like 'The Disposable Heroes of Hip-Hoprisy' too, if you're not already familiar with them. A bit dated now, they were from the mid 90's, but they have some really good lyrics (a lot of political prophecy that came to be true) and some great beats. Kind of like a more underground Public Enemy without the annoying Flava Flav. "satanic reverses" and "language of violence" are great tracks, even today.

The Group 'Consolidated' is kinda like that too, they were kind of a rap/industrial type sound. Too extreme left-wing for my taste, but they had some decent stuff, no doubt. The only track who's title I can remember was "tool and die", pretty hot tune too.
