Madrid don't play with the pivot anyway, they use 2 deep CM and 1 AM. Carletto will play 4-2-3-1 and Ozil could have slot into the AM perfectly, but really could have played any of the 3 behind the striker.
Honestly I think Carletto don't like his attitude and want to remove a potential problem from the team, but he will be missed because he was a world class player with lots of talent

I hate to enter into this discussion, but yeah it seems Madrid is mostly playing 4-2-3-1. Although it may vary throughout the game, sometimes changing to 433, depending on the situation.
And ArgVega those formations that Marca reports might always not be the way the team is actually playing. Teams like to switch their playstyle a lot during matches.

That's too bad, but Madrid fans should not worry because they've got Isco now. Who might not be better than Özil at the moment, but soon will become. I've watched this guy so many times playing for "avarage" Malaga side and he's a gamechanger. He's so young as well and has even yet to his his peak yet.
