FT 2-1
a good fought win. altho, with all the chances we should have won this by a far bigger margin.

Marcelo got 90 mins! :) and he did really good.
Robben finally debuted.
Raúl shows once again that he´s the King of UCL!

HALA MADRID!

2-1. We were better overall. Not great though. Some fantastic plays from time to time, but we had alot of trouble with Diego. Marcelo definatly should be second choice for Heinze (if not first choice), he was class IMO. He has explosive speed, good tackling, good cross and really likes to attack from that left side. A gem! Raul was phenomenal. MoM for me (and for alot of people I think). Ruud was good, although he missed some easy chances. Defense was very good. Ramos was a beast. Canna was class! Metze made one fault and that cost us the goal. But for the rest of the game he didnt make a single mistake. The only man that wasnt playing to his normal level was Fernandito. He didnt look good tonight. Maybe its the nerves, maybe Diego was just too good. I dont know. But what I do know is that Fernandito can play ALOT better! And he will!

HALA MADRID!

Hey fellas, here is my match assesment...

Casillas- He could have done more on the Bremen goal, but I guess its ok, not too terrible on his part there. He had a couple of important stops...huge actually. So he was top level again.

CB- Had a couple of mistakes but I was impressed by the way Cannavaro and Metz covered each other's backs, I am telling you, Pepe better come ready to bring it. and you know what that is good, because the better our CB's the more freedom to attack

Marcelo-The kid has made a statement. He needs to be challenging Heinze for a first team slot. He reminds me of RC!. except he seems to be a better defender. I am so glad we didnt let him go. I believe if Schuster gives him a few more matches he can be important for this club.

Ramos- A fighter always. I like his hustle. had a couple of incursions down the flank. good game for him.

Gago/Higuain-The two worst IMO. Gago, namely thought was up against Diego and well Diego is Diego, plus he didnt really have a lot of help from the rest of the team. given the circumtances he did well. La Pipita was more courage than football. you can tell he is not confortable there at the RW position...he needs to play where Raul plays.

Sneijder/Guti-When Sneijder plays on the left he lacks mobility, cause he is tied to that side. I say they need to play him in the middle...that is where he does best...Guti had a few nice touches and overall improved tremendously from his last match.

Raul/RVN- Raul is reborn I think. Since the Atletico match he has been in the mix, every single game..the guy is on fire and I believe he deserves a spot on the Spanish NT...RVN, did well, althouh slow at times...I believe he is still a step too slow, but I expect his form to be back up. nonetheless, you dont need speed when you got positioning like he does.

Robihno/Robben-Better stuff from Robihno...I think Pipita didnt do enough to take his job. Robben debuted, and he looked lively, I should expect he will be increasing in fitness as the matches go on.

Overall: The win cost us more than it should have. It should be easily been a 4-1 but I'll take this. Again we evidenced some defensive issues as far as positioning. But as I expected the team rebounded from that Almeria match, by the Valladolid match I expect a vast improvement. B+

Perhaps the International break disrupted our flow and fitness a tad bit. we weren't too sharp but we managed. Raul was amazing. I hope he is back! We won while playing at 70% I think so all in all it says alot about the level of players we have. By the way, loved Marcelo, I think he needs to get the nod next game.

We played well. I thought Marcelo played well, getting involved in attack. We could've easily scored five or six. Raul was a threat every time he had the ball at his feet. Robben did alright and, when is fully fit, should play out on the left.

It didn't help with the deflection off Sergio Ramos.

We have finally ended our hoo-doo of losing on day one of the group stage.:hump:

Marca called Raul and Van "los pichichis de la Champions" on their cover today

Good win though. You beat the best team in your group.

Damn. why does Raúl have to perform as he does atm? With those performances he will get spot on the NT. That's very bad for us Danes ;)

finally some one agrees with me, higuain is not a RW robinho there everytime, he attacks and scares defenders. i love higuain but he is wasted on the right, and i agree about sniejder, he needs to be central or have the liscence to roam and do wateva he wants. roberto carlos was class, sorry i mean marcelo haha! identical.
gago had a few misplaced passes and had the hardest job of markin diego, and to be fair lads you cannot keep on eye on diego all match so he did a reasonably good job.
ruud was, well, not on form to be generous i counted six chances and he finally bagged the last one he had. winning goal none the less but he needs to be scorin 3 out 6 not 1 out of 6.
raul has been on that 10 years younger programme(in the UK) had the hair cut and facelift and the performances are definately something he would have produced when he was bursting on to the scene. utter class.
and there goal was lucky, yea metz should have been on his toes but no one expected that wicked deflection. it was a lucky goal.
im excited about robben he is was dyin to gety a score sheet bless him haha

apparently robinho is furious?!
he blanked all of the media after the match. not sure if its true or not
but i suppose he is right, he should have started over higuain

Meh, Robihno needs to shut up and realize that he hasnt had a good begining of the season, he needs to continue to work hard and shut up, nothing is given, and it shouldnt be. I agree with Schuster trying out Higuain to see what he brought forth; I dont think he did enough so Robihno should start the next game.

Second and most important....did you guys hear about Schuster??? Apparently he is unhappy in Madrid and has stated that he might be leaving at the end of the year....we will see....I think this is terrible from Schuster and could end up upseting the balance in the dressing room...specially now at this early but crucial joint of the season

It sounds like amarillismo from Marca again OV.

Do we know what the context was? Has someone who actually speaks German said what he really said?

Schuster isnt going nowhere. He already played those talks down.

Robinho should start. He is the best (and most talented) player in this squad, PERIOD!

woaH! brother...a little too far there. Yes he is talented yes he is good, but no he is not the MOST talented nor the best player in the squad...that would have to go to Sneijder or RVN in my opinion..

well Amarillismo or not, we really cant be sure unless Schuster goes on record and categorically denies it...it is just weird considering how well things are going...Could it be that like i feared Real Madrid is too big for Schuster?

You are judging by form. Thats not how I rate the players. Robinho is without any doubt the most talented player in the squad. The team without him looks like its missing something. He gets the crowd going, he can fire up the team and can make defenders go crazy in one single move. Im not too far at all. He should be a regular! But I guess Tuesday was just to try out Higuain (who is also great btw), so actually we shoulnt have this talk because next game Robinho will just start. ;)

EDIT:

He already denied it ;) Dont worry its just BS. The guy just said that everything is different from the time he played at our club. Its all new to him. Training Real Madrid is a hard thing, but he said that he is happy. He isnt stupid! He wont leave!

I think is not true. The team is going great now so i don't think Schuster have in mind leaving the team.
