Real Madrid vs. Barcelona [P+R]

Vedran-10

Starting XI
Last time Barca went to the Bernabeu with a nine point lead was 32 years ago. Madrid - Barca 0:5

Hopefully, something like that will happen again.

I think Madrid are damaged more than us. They need Samuel and Guti more than we need Deco. Iniesta is good enough to cover for him. I doubt that Madrid have a capable sub for Pavon.

You seem to keep forgetting Puyol.

Puyol and Deco are a much, much more important duo than Samuel and Guti.

I've never seen anyone as strong as him. I'm sorry, but he's playing. He has to. He's Puyol.

We count with Puyol because he'll play.

This isn't confirmed.

Puyol is going to be doing 6 hours of off-field training each day with the Barcelona staff in hopes of being able to play, but at the moment he is not expected to be in the Cules' line-up.

He is not expected in Madrid, in Barcelona nobody doubts it. Mostly because last season he suffered a similar injury and he needed just 10 days.

Just look at the last press conference of Rijkaard. He tells how much we'll miss Deco. Nothing about Puyol (H)

At the moment he's doubtful.. but I have no doubt.

Real Madrid v Barca

- Puyol and Xavi have played more games against Real Madrid than any of their current team-mates. They've both played in ten league and 1 Champions League match.

- Barca have won 64.2% of their away matches this season and have managed at least a point in 85.7%. Real Madrid have taken 80% of the points in the Santiago Bernabeu and are the only team in La Liga that have not yet drawn at home. They've lost on three occasions, against Deportivo, Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao.

- Barca and Real Madrid have met on a total of 228 occasions in official and friendly matches. Barca have won 94, lost 85 and drawn 49, scoring 390 goals and conceding 370 in the process.

- Barca won the match in the Nou Camp earlier in the season 3-0, with goals from Eto'o, Gio and Ronaldinho.

- The last time Barca travelled to the Bernabeu was on 25th April 2004. Barca won 1-2 thanks to goals from Kluivert and Xavi.

- The first Madrid v Barca in history was on 5th May 1929. Barca won 0-1.

- Giuly, Jorquera, Fernando Navarro, Albertini and Maxi López are the only senior squad players who have not already played for Barca against Madrid. Giuly was in the squad for the match earlier in the season but remained on the bench. Edmilson has also not yet faced Real Madrid but will not be available due to his long-term knee injury.

- Out of the last ten visits to the Bernabeu, Barca have won two, drawn four and lost four.

- Deco is the only Barca player who will miss the clash due to suspension. Samuel and Guti are suspended for Real Madrid.

- Barca go to the Bernabeu with the league's highest goal scorer and the goalkeeper who has conceded the fewest goals. Samuel Eto'o has scored 21 while Víctor Valdés has conceded just 20. As a team, Barca have also scored the most goals and conceded the fewest. Real Madrid are the second highest scorers with 51 and have conceded 26, behind Barca (21) and Atletico Madrid (25).

- Eto'o has scored five gaols against Real Madrid, four with Mallorca and one with Barca. In his four visits to the Bernabeu, he has won three times and drawn once.

madrid to win by one goal.
i take it to be either by zidane or beckham :)

your sig, which indicates that you're a chelsea and real madrid fan, must mean that you're a fan of clubs with money. i hate people like you. if for no other reason, barca should win to teach people like you a lesson: the lesson the money does not buy success.

2-0 to barca
ronaldhino twice

I just can't see Figo benched. Regardless of what the papers say.

It would be stupid to play Beckham over Figo.

and Barcelona bought Ronaldinho with 1000 rolls of toilet paper? shut the **** up, you made yourself look stupid. while i agree with you that being a fan of both Chelsea and Real Madrid kind of points at him being a gloryhunter, money DOES buy success, unless you show me a team who plays for sandwiches and a coke and is top in Europe.

So money that you use to buy players like Dinho, Deco, and all are used to not buy you success??:| What do you want them to do, bake you pies or win you silverware.

Clubs with money.... dosnt your club have money?

Playing Beckham over Figo and Ronaldo still starting is more of a business decision. Some non soccer fans might watch a game if there were known players playing. Whereas no one would watch if you start Javi Garcia, Guti etc.

Beckham should play tomorrow. he still has the ability, just needs to find his touch again (hes been finding it for 2 years tho ;)). The decision to switch Figo with Owen is stupid. Bench Raul and play Owen if you have to. Figo plays his best matches against Barca.
