Beckham does not substantially improve Real's team. What does he add? Pinpoint crosses from the right? Real have never had any problems in serving balls to the strikers. Everybody knows they need to shore up their defense. Wasting their money on Beckham would be for strategic marketing purposes only. Last year they could have had Nesta, but they went for Ronaldo. This year they could get Chivu, but they opt instead for Beckham? It's clear they are intent on creating the most famous and star-filled team, not the best on the field.

Yeah thats what i guessed, its being suggested that they give zidane a free role that would mean that beckham would have to work hard.

I personally dont see why they would buy him, like anderson said, there are at least 20 different players better than beckham at right midfield.

Real should get reyes, or juaqin to play a left mid role

real doesnt really use a left mid.. they leave it open for carlos to run up... they need a center mid that would be good constructing play and becks have a good vision.. and well.. also the asian market is a lot of money... when figo gets older.. madrid will probably try to get joaquin

Becks cannot stay where he is because they want to sell him. If I was him I would go to Madrid, if you are in Man U, you are not going to go to a second rate club like Barcelona.
Either way.. eventually Madrids numbers will stop breaking even, but you guys have to understand that ronaldo, figo, zidane raul and r.carlos send a whole lot of merchandise for them, and so will beckham, which eventually means that the transfer fee makes sense....

well becks is moving on now i thought id flash back to this thread when beckham was actually wanted by the top clubs, i love the way valioso calls barcelona a second rate club, that uis a joke now

He was a sell out, his lifestyle and media attraction impacted his playing career, and he bottled it. He knew he could take a 5 year contract and get a big payday, even if he plays horribly. Or he knew he could have one last shot in europe, and if he didn't prove himself as a football player it would all be over. He chose money over football, and what I don't like is how he said he wanted nothing more than to get back into the England squad, which was obviously a lie because he knows it isn't happening now he's gone to the USA. Alex Ferguson has shown that he was right to get rid of the guy, and his career choices mean he will always be remembered as a media attraction rather than a good player. On sky sports today they were basically attacking him verbally, saying how at best he was a good player, never world class, and that he will never be thought of as an England great.
