He was a sell out, his lifestyle and media attraction impacted his playing career, and he bottled it. He knew he could take a 5 year contract and get a big payday, even if he plays horribly. Or he knew he could have one last shot in europe, and if he didn't prove himself as a football player it would all be over. He chose money over football, and what I don't like is how he said he wanted nothing more than to get back into the England squad, which was obviously a lie because he knows it isn't happening now he's gone to the USA. Alex Ferguson has shown that he was right to get rid of the guy, and his career choices mean he will always be remembered as a media attraction rather than a good player. On sky sports today they were basically attacking him verbally, saying how at best he was a good player, never world class, and that he will never be thought of as an England great. Well done Beckham.
