ok

so i installed norton antivirus on my comp.
and then my sound stopped working.
i restarted, a few times but the sound just wouldn't work

then after a day i uninstalled norton antivirus and my sound started working again

weird right?

can anyone think of a reason why this would happen?

Norton antivirus is crap?

Nah, no idea. Probably coincidence, unless other people report it happening.

Do you have onboard sound or do you have a PCI soundcard, like a Soundblaster Live/Audigy?

its a onboard realtek sound card
on a laptop

winXp home

Can't think why NAV would disable sound.

Moral of this story: don't use Norton

i have the same realtek onboard chip too....
but i had no problem when installing NAV 2004 b4 this....

Seriously, don't use Norton. It eats resources and there are many programs out there that are more efficient and cheaper.
