you need the windows disc & then run a repair.

it will fix your registry & mbr, but most installed applications will not function as the registry will be a fresh windows installed version.

need more help let me know.

no but most wont function.

go into the bios set the first boot device to cd/dvd drive.
when prompted press any key to boot from cd, press a key.

let windows load the files, follow on screen instructions to repair the
windows installation.

would a system restore not have rolled back to before you corrupted your registry ?

System Restore

Your Windows ME and Windows XP systems come equipped with a System Restore feature. This feature enables your operating system to take regular snapshots of your system—including the registry—to enable you to rollback your system to a prior working state in case of a failure. To start the System Restore process, run the Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore command. In the displayed System Restore window, select the ‘Restore my computer to an earlier time’ option and select Next. Now, from the displayed calendar, select a restore point and proceed further to roll back your system settings to the selected restore point.

yea you can do it that way too, but if you cant boot normally or in safe mode a disc is needed to repair windows or run system restore.

i never use system restore, because if it was a virus that deleted a registry key & caused the issue, then it will most likely be duplicated in system files & restore points.

You can try features;
If you again see the this blue screen, restart your system then select "Start Windows Normally".
Insert XP Professional SP3 CD in your optical drive.
Click Start--Run or press on keyboard Winlogo+R kombination.
Write sfc /scannow (sfc and one character space, that's important) and press enter.
This process with your system files will be fixed.
