Yes, it's now official!
Boavista and Portugal number 1 keeper Ricardo will play for Benfica next season, and for the next five years. The news has been confirmed in Benfica's official website, and the news about the contract agreement has been announced by on-line newspaper Maisfutebol.
After being linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon, Ricardo has finally defined his future, by joining a club that he supports since he was a little kid, he admitted sometime ago.
He was meant to join Benfica last season, at the time of Petit's transfer, but it didn't end up well, only with the midfielder joining the Portuguese giant. It allowed him to be an important piece of Boavista's squad in their walk on to the UEFA Cup semi-finals, with the keeper prooving to be one of the best in Europe.
He will cost €2M, payed in two years. The move doesn't involve any players going to Boavista, like it was speculated (young Moreira was said to go on loan).
