in brazil is very common people selling patches/tradutions of a game. it's a shame... and most people who buy aren't assholes, they just don't know that that can be download for free

Indeed, ebay's just a small glimpse of how many people make money with our work. All third world countries with no particular laws are selling copies of games. I know a lot of friends in lebanon, syria, and North Africa, and they all told me that a great amount of games are sold already patched with our work.
So, there's nothing we can do about it, it's sad, but it's like that.

Ebay is a different animal; they become liable if they knowingly facilitate the sale by someone of property owned by someone else.

Wolf initiating that e-mail to Ebay forces them to take action; if Wolf really wants to, he can resolve this, and maybe even recuperate a significant portion of any money made as a result of this hump selling something not his. I've seen it happen on Ebay many a time, with "manuals" and "services" and things like that.

So in this case, there is PLENTY that can be done about it; this idiot's mistake was selling on Ebay, where modes of redress are legion.

Unbelievable. He's astute though, I'll give him that. Even if Ebay ask him to remove the auction though, he's still laughing. I can't believe how much money he made from this!

LOL, there is no way he is going to prison though. This is a very grey area legally anyway, given that copyright is technically being broken with the creation of the patch in the first place by using logos etc. not officially licensed. He is breaking the law in that sense, by selling copyrighted material, but there is no grounds on Wolf's part (or any of the other creators) to seek legal recompense as you technically don't own your creation in the first place, as it's copyrighted material you are using without permission. Ebay will give him a slap on the wrist and ban him at the very worst.

So unless any of the companies whose identities are displayed in the patch want to sue this guy (which is of course not going to happen - it's hardly the crime of the century after all) then I'm afraid he's laughing all the way to the bank. Asshole.(N)

so any news from e-bay? anyone reported auction as breaking the rules or smth? I can see it's still active and he sold 153 items * 610 pounds = 1143 USD = 874 EURO lol

He's smart, I'll give him that.

Unfortunately you'll always get people like that, ripping other people's work and passing it off as their own or (even worse as far as I'm concerned) sell it for profit when the original patch was intended as free of use!

I hope he gets shot:f***:

Wolf maybe u shud tell the guy to give you a cut of profits. at the end of the day u deserve some recognition. and maybe you could split the money with the rest of the patch makers. It wouldnt even be much. this is astonishing really. OR tell ebay it has copyrighted material and it will be taken off.

I cant believe how many ppl have purchased it, and the worst thing is its probably someone in THIS COMMUNITY on soccergaming. maybe he sells the fifa ones as well. and who knows what else.

eh it's funny how many posts about "where to download?" and PMs are sending while new game is relased, when PES4/FIFA was out there were hundreds of deleted posts about warez

Now, when piracy thing touches yourself, all of here are extremaly pissed off..

this is why Piracy is bad...developers can't do a sh!t to stop it and you can't do anything to stop guys selling patched games over the internet, this is how it works...:crazyboy:

dodgy name guy has a good point. but its not exactly piracy, its more like the guy making money out of something that is supposed to be free for the community.
