I dont know, i never got to see ronaldo at his prime but people say he was great..If he ends up being world cup's all time scorer can we say he was among the best ever alongside Maradona, Pele & Zidane.

yeh pretty much in the same shed as Shevchenko7, before his bad injury (in 2001/2??) he was one of the greatest i have personally ever seen. For those unfortunate enough never to have seen him then, he was like he is now, but with more determination, and as much pace as someone like Owen or Trezeguet.

to me, he is in the books as one of the greatest in my time. but had not been for his injuries, he could have been arguable the best. now, with his weight, laziness, and at times seemingly unmotivated, it's sad to see him as a shell of his former self. but i expect him to rise to the challenge during the world cup.

when i watch his compilations and highlights, i'm still amazed at just how GOOD he was. sheer power, strenght, agility, speed to burn, and athletic.

He's an asshole. I got this hate/love relationship with him. For a guy that good he SHOULD have been the greatest, but instead he decided to be a lazy, fat moron. Yeah, the injuries didn't help but he still had a lot of good years in his legs.

That's how you see there's no god: this talent should have gone to someone who cared.

I don't like him for his attitude on the pitch, but yeah, he was quite good.

Not alongside Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Eusebio and the like though.

You got it there, exactly what I would have said. For me though it was the injuries that diminished him.

for me ronaldo WAS the best striker in the world, the way he dribbled and did the step overs, made scoring goals look just so easy....

now he is just... ehh

When he turns it on he's still the best, and that's what i expect to see of him in the World Cup. The deciding factor on our success, or failure.

Seconded on every account

Obviously they were never like personal rivals, but when its all said and done, Ronaldo will be standing in Zidane's shadow when it comes to the greatest footballing genius of the last decade or so

and injuries are injuries, but goddamnit, less talented players have worked through that to become as good or better than they were before. It takes dedication and the will to be great. For whatever reason, he seems to lack both those things. But no one can question how good he was

IMO - Ronaldinho will be the key for Brazil in the World Cup.

Yeah, you are right.

Sheva and Batistuta arent/were talented strikers, but they have/had professionalism and hard work...just imagine if Ronaldo were as pro as these two... :rockman:

Some times he looks like he dont care to win...
