Simao has far more experience???

Jorge Cadete has had more experience than Pauleta, but we don't call him up do we?

That's the only reason people have for Simao to start, because on talent and potential Ronaldo has outshined Simao in this tournament with half the playing-time.

Ronaldo, this shouldn't even be an issue. Simao has been invisible, like he usually is in NT matches. Ronaldo makes things happen and brings pace and spirit into the game.

ok then, start ronaldo and see what he gets in the first half... then put simão on the second half so he can play when the defenders are tired.

What the point in having more experience, when you don´t deliver and don´t appear during the match? There shouldn´t be any doubt Ronaldo deserves to start. If he does as bad as Simão is doing currently then just replace him, like it´s happening in all the games. Simão is really more experienced but Couto is also more experienced than both Jorge Andrade and Ricardo Carvalho. I think Ronaldo has done enough to deserve a chance.

I'd rather lose the impact of bringing on Ronaldo in the 2nd half than having an invisible Simao for 60 or 70 minutes.

Ronaldo

Simão is very poor in this euro2004. He isn't the same Simão of Benfica. Ronaldo deserves the place because he's playing very well and most important, he's making the difference...

I'd say Ronaldo.

He's played quite a lot for United last season so why not? Everytime he comes on you feel if he'd of been on earlier or started, he'd of given more of what he's got.

I think he should definately start. Simao's had two chances and hasnt done as well as Cristiano on both occasions!

I'm not sure...

Like I said in another thread: Simão is more experienced and tactically better. But no doubt Ronaldo has been great so far, having more impact than Simão! The thing is that Ronaldo may have much less impact if starting than being brought on in the 2nd half, when the defenders are already tired. On the other hand, he may also start well from the beggining and allow us to create danger and score from early on. But yeah, maybe it is better to put Ronaldo. We have to risk, that's for sure! We need to win the match.

Anyway, people are being unfair with Simão. Ronaldo's been better and more "explosive", but Simão hasn't done bad at all. He has been tactically perfect and he has worked very hard for the team. Only thing is that he hasn't unleashed all the speed, talent and flair he has. I agree, he hasn't been the same Simão from Benfica (unfortunately, until now he never has been, for the NT), but he has been a useful team player.

Bringing on Ronaldo in the second half might be too late for Portugal. They could be 2 or 3 goals down by then, so why take the risk?. Definately start with Ronaldo.

Well, we can't take the risk of Simao not showing his "speed, talent and flair," it's key to start the game against Spain as explosive as we did against Russia, whoever scores first will most definitely win the game against Spain.
