Rugby on TV in the USA?

Noone actually CARES if rugby takes off in the USA or not... it is like moaning about baseball not taking off in England.

Maybe you should use your insights to inform Japan that there is no need for them to bid for the 2011 World Cup given it will be such a waste of time if it is not covered in the US.

as for progress how about the us eagles getting thrashed 77-3 by wales? big progress has been made since the 2003 world cup i see. who was that geek who argued with me in that period who claimed that the rugby minnows would be getting stronger?.

Hmm, you have a point, they are getting better against each other e.g. Italy beat Argentina in Argentina which is a notoriously difficult thing to do.

Well, there are a number of laws to danger zones logic:

1. NZ vs. Fiji - using a game from amateur days to compare against a game in the professional era PLUS using a game in the cup competition to compare against a game played for nothing when Fiji's first choice players in a number of positions are not available.

2. US getting thrashed by Wales to suggest no progress has been made - indicates that Wales have indeed grown in stature since the world cup - who won the six nations? If nothing had changed then surely the World Champs should have swept all before them instead of finishing well down the table...

3. If 'barely anyone else' cares about Rugby it is certainly strange to see Japan bidding for a world cup in 2011 given noone except for a few farmers in Morrinsville will be watching...

4. Oh yeah, noone in the US cares about soccer.... riiiiiggghhhttt. Someone better tell all those kids playing every week and all the folks from the US posting on these boards that they are deluded....

Bear in mind that all this comes from someone who doesn't actually give much of a damn about rugby.... I couldn't care less really.

Alright, a lot of you might not like Rugby, and a lot of you might. All of us though, do love sport or we wouldn't be here. I don't want TV's showing reality TV and sitcoms all the time. I want them showing sports and that includes rugby. Someone needs to do something to at least get the game on TV. I think that it should be the responsibilty of the Canadian Rugby and American Rugby federations to get the game on TV in North America because they're the only one's with that voice. Once it is on TV, the fans will come because if they like American Football, they'll like Rugby since it has more flow-they just don't know anything about it.

PS: Yah, I do play rugby but we just play for fun most of the time. Our cities team lets you get involved and lets you play in the junior side. Since I'm 15 and have enough skill, they let me play on the junior side during the practices. I'm so lucky because two of my friends are Australian's and one is a Kiwi. That's one of the good sides of living in a multicultural city.
