I had a very similar problem & I thought it was overheating but it was not., which I have now solved .
I found out that it was background programs and services running.
It may not be your problem but you could give it a try.....
1. Goto Start>Run,
2.Type in msconfig,then click OK,
3.click the services tab and check/tick "hide all microsoft services" ,then click ok,
4. Uncheck/untick all the services in there and click apply,then OK,
5.Now RESTART your computer when it asks you to.
and thats it , I have not had a problem since doing this....
