Screw Konami

I'm sick of losing games because of what other players on my team do when I have no control over them.

I was playing the EPL, two games left and tied for points with Chelsea. I'm 1-0 up against Liverpool in the 2nd to last game. One of my players (who I'm not controlling) decides to bodycheck one of Liverpool's players just outside the area when I had plenty of men back to deal with the threat. Gerrard scores from the free kick as a result.

Last game, winning 2-1 against Arsenal. Henry is in the 18 yard area off to the side and I have 2 men between him and the goal. My left defender runs behind him and makes the most brief of contacts, not even enough to make Henry stumble, and the ref gives a PK. Arsenal equalize.

Lose the season by 1 point.

38 games ruined by the computer cheating and making players I'm not controlling give away fouls!!!

WTF???

Why the freak would Konami do this crap? I understand trying to make the other players have more of their own AI but having them cost you games by giving away fouls is frustrating.

I really don't want to play anymore with this game. What's the point of going through a whole season or ML just to have the computer cheat you? Somebody said the computer doesn't cheat on 4 stars but it's not enough competition on that level so I'm faced with either winning games 5-0 or more almost every game or playing at a higher level and having the computer cheat like crap.

I'm not touching this crap again until the next version (hopefully on the 360 before too long with these problems sorted out).

Oh, and before any stupid ass newbies make the comment "did you press the call 2nd defender button" - no I freaking didn't. I'm smart enough to know the difference between a player just doing whatever the cPU wants and what I affect in the game.

Apparently, this cheating makes the game "more realistic".

I'm tired of having my good shots at goal blocked unrealistically or go over the bar or bend sideways in a blatant cheating way.

I'm tired of my defenders not responding to my instruction to head the ball out but instead watching the opposition head the ball in.

Tired of those penalties.

Tired of my players stoping their run to catch the loose ball.

Tired of loose ball falling to CPU's feet.

Tired of FIFA as well.

Maybe we should go back to Winning Eleven 8 International where I'll be tired of my players stumbling and staggering and letting the through ball go out of play when they could easily have caught up with it.

I understand your complaints, but current PES5 is the best soccer game on the market IMO and we just have to deal with it until a new or better version comes out.

Players get lazy towards the end of the game (they run low on stamina), the other team trys harder, this is not cheating, this is realism.

Some people don't like losing, you either deal with it or stop playing and I think you'll deal.

I don't know I find it more realistic. the more difficult, the more bad touches, it's all like real football. players are human and konami has done an excellent job in achieving this, in my opinion.i love that my players can easily lose the ball - means it makes it more worth it when i control the ball consistently and effectively. I also love that the cpu controls my players that i'm not controlling - it reminds me of an FPS where my teammates are shooting the enemy and actually helping out or making things worse, in which they die :boohoo: , but the fact of the matter is there is a higher AI controlling a whole new aspect of the game. Its unpredictable, its great, every game is different - you just have to have an open mindset. but this is just my opinion so no flaming, but so far I've really enjoyed the game, like I said its a new experience every game.

Lads in a proper football games, players try to do things and get it wrong...just like in pes5 players you instruct to do things will get it wrong too. It makes it more real. This is the best game out at the moment so either like it or lump it until the next gen come along. I too get frustrated but thats what its all about cos if it was perfect all the time it would be boring :hump:

the most important games of the season, are were the computer cheats the most, even if it's the last team of the table, just to help other of your rivals....

guys, look - your getting ultra emotional! what other game has that ability on people? nothing, apart from the actual game of football which is all about highs and lows.

This year they have made a scary realistic representation of football, and thus it requires more concentration and desire to win

And thus, Konami will never end up solving the problems in the series because of people who makes excuses for every flaw.

If a player I'm not controlling concedes a PK, in what way does that reflect on my playing ability? If I press a button to clear the ball and the computers ignores it to allow it's own player to score, in what way does that reflect on my playing ability?

The computer cheats to level the playing field because Konami can't make the CPU AI better. They cut corners by screwing you up rather than by making the CPU team better. How the freak is that realistic?

It's amazing how people can make BS excuse after BS excuse for things which are genuinely wrong. Cheating you out of winning is complete bollocks!

What other game would you put up with this crap with? In Gran Turismo, if you went to turn a corner and the CPU ignored you and you crashed, would you excuse it and say, "oh well, sometimes you go to do something in a car and you make a mistake" or if the computer made you turn into a wall when you didn't steer it that way????

Of course not, you'd complain saying the game was crap!

The true definition of a fanboy is somebody who won't freaking admit genuine errors in the game. Unfortunately this forum is full of them and the very reason why Konami will never do anything about this crap. Game companies react to pressure and feedback and if keep kissing their ass and saying these errors don't matter then you're just making the series worse.

You think thats bad wolfy !! I feel your pain !!

I was playing my ML final game 2 points in front of 2nd place team ! its 1-1 and time is fast running out, one of my players who I am controlling suddenly can't punt a long ball up the park! It goes about 10yrds outside the box where a cpu player turns out to the wing and level with the 18yrd box crosses for his CF at the back of the 6yrd box, ha! he's hit it to long and the ball is clearly dropping over the head of the CF who has no chance of getting a head to it .... never mind 7th Calvary cpu to the rescue!

One of my unhighlighted defenders (one I was not controlling) as the ball was coming down over the back of the cpu CF and was going out for a goalkick, this cpu contolled defender of mine, moves in round behind the cpu CF and jumps up over the back of him to twist his neck and head flick the ball into the back of the net from a very acute angle. Acute! near impossible angle ...

OH NO the commentator says an own goal ... a OG, god if the CF himself had managed to jump up and head the ball into the back net at the junction of the bar and post I would have said, some goal my son!

How the hell did you get it in from there ... but no it was not the CF but my defender who was behind the CF making it even more of an unbelievable goal ... how he got it into the back of the net from near enough on the byline is beyond me ... BUT not beyond the CPU .

One can only hope that the next -gen units have the power (AI ) to make your cpu contolled players suddenly do the strangest thing, a thing of the past.. no more need for SC to keep your players moving or out of a cpu controlled run. true 360 passing with manual power bar , no more of the cpu picking the player it want you to pass to .. and a host of other strange cpu phenomenon ...

doesn't matter if they're a fanboy or not - i sure as hell am not, but its easy to put a label on something just to gain two different perspectives. I've never believed in CPU cheating in the game - thats my mindset that the game's aim is to achieve realism, this is by far that. I played in a game today, where we lost 2-1, we were tied 1-1 with a minute left in the game, we're holding for overtime and a pass back to our defender goes under his foot and as he gains control he pushes it too far inside, and an ongoing forward leaps onto it and rushes to score for the other team. yeah it was a heartbreak, thats what I'd feel if I had a game in PES5 as well, it makes it so much sweeter to make right plays and to have my teammates play well. If a cpu teammate screws up, it dosn't reflect your ability, it reflects that cpu player's ability to be consistent and help the team. when you play video games you pretend your in the game, you have the control but you can't dismiss the other environmental values, like the cpu, ur teammates, the referee or the freaking weather - just because it doesn't go your way. this is coming from a hardcore realism freak, obssessed really. i actually look forward to games that dont go my way, it shows how strong I am mentally whether I want to keep playing or not.

but like I always say, different strokes for different folks - I'm happy and content, sure there are some issues (stamina, crowd, weather in ML) and that aspect I will indeed hassle Konami, but not the gameplay -i think they've hit the nail on the head.

my 2 cents.

you know what i'm sick of the most?
The cpu launching lob through balls that land soflty in my keepers hands every time they are on the attack. grrrr
The AI in this game is dreadful. seriously, 95% of the time, when the CPU is on the attack, they'll do a stupid bonehead through ball that results in my keeper casually catching it, OR a goal kick. BORING!
PES4, WE:8i was far more challenging.

I agree with the Wolf. If people keep defending the flaws/cheating problems, Konami won't ever feel the need to fix them.

Why didn't you just take control of the defender instead?
BTW Tristan, i sick of hearing this and that about footie games from you.
First PES5 was good , then you left for FIFA06. That wasn't good enough. Now your back to Konami's crap and you're still complaining. Why don't you just play table footie that way you can't control dickwad except for the outcome. :boohoo:

I don't mind cpu cheating that much any more as I did earlyer, boosting superhuman abilities and scoring one-on-one goals because my center back stumbled is kinda irritating, but that was in We7 too, so I've used to it.

What really gets me mad in Pes5 is cpu making intentional fouls just about when you're about to go one on one with keeper or make the idieal through pass. They seem to know that I'm having/will have an excellent opening and pulls my player by the shirt or pushes to the ground. And the cheat thing in this is that even if you're player stays on legs and could easely continue run to create good one on one/ two on one situation the ref ALWAYS stops the play. For some sort of reason AI thinks, that it's more to my advantage executing a free kick from 30 meters than to go one on one with lonely goalie.

The advantage rule is totally ****ed up and only works when can be beneficial to cpu team. This wouldn't be so important if cpu team wouldn't comit about 25 fouls in each game and 3-5 of them are usually ''last chance'' ones that are commited to prevent my breakthrough.

It's like this - the AI fouls tryng to stop me from scoring but when it sees that I'm still on legs and continue to threate the goal he stops the play because ''oh, I fouled you, sorry, my fault, here's the fk to settle the thing''. Now that's what i cal cheating bigtime.
