sexuality: serious thread

1st of all, let me make this clear, this is not a joke of any sort, and it meant to be a serious thread

As the statistics regarding sexuality suggest that 1 in 10 people is not straight, it dawned on me that there must be a lot of people around soccergaming who aer not straight.

If you are one of these people, have you found acceptance around the football world to be very low?

This has definitely been my situation since admitting to being bi just over a year ago. It seems to be that ince you not only fancy females, that you can no longer have an interest in football. I am still the same person that I was before admiiting to this side of my personality, so why should that change my day yo day interests?

If you prefer to remain anonymous but still make a comment on this thread, then feel free to PM me our response and I will post it for you.

That's terrible, but what can you do..as the saying goes: people suck. (N)

But major kudos to you for having the guts to come clean about it. I'm talking about coming clean in your real life, nevermind posting it on a forum where it'll more than likely be ruined by some immature douche.

Isn't it a but strange when you and the rest of your team undress and go have a shower? Do you look at them naked as if you were looking at a naked woman?

I got to be honest: I am totally okay with homosexuals - my cousing is openly gay -, I don't have a problem with gay couples getting married, adopting children, etc., but I do have a glitch when it comes to having a shower with a gay person also naked looking back at me. Just don't tell me it's some sort of sexual insecurity,as I'm just not comfortable with it.

Anyway Steve, great of you to have the courage to come out. I'm sure you'll get a lot of flaming from the morons here, but you got my respect.

obviouly i can only talk fo myself

bt that has never been my way with male or females

i don't get physically attracted to people

maybe thats the reason i am bi, but very few people do anything for me by just looking, so no i don;t look at team mates in the shower etc any mroe than anyone else would

the stance i have took is not telling people who actually know in person unles the situation comes up,

thus avoiding the issue all together

but that would not be as easy to do if I was gay rather than bi

also, i havenl;t came completly clean about it yet, my parents still don;t know, dspite being in a relaitonship for over 6 months

Saying you accept and respect homosexuals is one thing, but actually doing so still proves to be difficult for a lot of people, unfortunately. My uncle is gay, he's married and as far as I'm concerned they're great guys.

Like Hugo said, I don't have problem with gay people at all but some things make you feel slightly uncomfortable. Gays making out in public I find slightly disturbing, but straight people making out in public I find annoying as well.

well then you will be happy to here hat we feel just as disturbed about that type of thing, in all relationships it shoudl be kept to when you are not in company,

or at least in company where no1 is going to feel awkward about the situation

I don't have anything against homosexuals/bisexuals, it's just that growing up, I guess being "gay" was always associated as being wrong, and was always used as an insult (still is, I guess), so it's sort of been coded in me to be intolerant, or at least suspicious of homosexuals (sounds stupid. And no, I'm not intolerant of homosexuals nor suspicious of them - but that's sort of the way I grew up).

No I'm not trying to justify discrimination against homosexuals, but I'm pondering why there's discrimination against homosexuals in the first place.

But yeah man, full respect to you for telling the truth. Since you've posted here for a while, it would be interesting to see if people begun to act differently toward you after this, as though you were suddenly a different person.

I've no problem with homosexuals or bisexuals either. The two of my aunts are bisexuals, so I was a bit exposed to their lifestyles when I was a kid.

There are many gay couples in my school, some are more open than others. One couple makes out in the hall a lot. So do a lot of starigh couples though too. The thing that bothers me though was that administration told the one girl in the gay couple that she couldn't play sports( and she was the goalie for the girl's soccer team and she was amazing keeper, the best player on the team, she had already won a bunch of honors and awards) if she was caught making out in the hall during the season. But other straight athletes who are making out in the hall don't get that same treatment, administration just turns their shoulder. I thought its complety wrong to discriminate agianst gays.

Have you ever experieinced really bad discrimination?

all depends on where you draw the line

some people would classify that as being bi

i know that personally, I would not, as you say you would not do more than kiss a guy.

Every word of what you said makes complete sense, as I was asking ymself the very same questions

at the end of the day the lable that people give you does not make a blind bit of difference, aslong as you are happy and secure with the person that you and the decisons you take about how you want to live your life

then who i anyone else to argue

i have actually experienced a hell of a lot more discrimnation from the gay world than I have from the straight, a lot of gay guys see being bi as being in denial of true feelings

I have not experienced much discrimnation at all from the straight wold, mainly because I don't make my sexuality a big issue, why should i make it clear that I am bi, when they have no reason to know

My view on homosexuality is quite like has been mentioned in this thread

I have the exact same respect for them as I have for any other person, unless, of course, I don't like their personality, such as arrongance or somethin, which is absolutely diferent from a sexual choice

I do find unconfortable the image of 2 guys making out, but like mhflierman said, I also find it annoying to have a hetero couple making out in the street or a crowded public place

Gay people sometimes are pretty funny, in general (judging by 2 I know), they have quite strong personalities which make them quite interesting human beings

Portugal is a very homofobious country, though, there's a lot of preconception, I dislike it a lot

that is completly understandable, as it is something that you no desire to do

I think that the problem which a lot of gay people face is that when you see a gay couple, you instantly think of the sexual side to their relationship, rather than the loving caring side which tends to come first in images of a straight relationship

I have been told this by both gay and straight people, so think it sums things up very well

for some reason people tend to think that a gay relationship is a lot more sexual than a straight, and having experienced both, I an say that the balance of emotions in the 2 cases is almost identical

now that surprises me,

being so close to Spain, which is among the most gay friendly countries in the world

my boyfriend and I were walking down the streets in Spain holding hands, and no1 was even battering an eyelid, there is no way e could ven consdier doing that in the centre of Birmingham
