SF #1: Germany vs. Turkey [P+R]

Sevillista

Starting XI
You can't just say NOW that turkey deserved to win. Czech Republic outplayed you most of their match, just as the Croats outplayed you for most of theirs. When you won those matches you certainly thought your team had earned the win. But now that your team loses a match that they dominated, it's an undeserving loss.

I wish I could have come on here praising Turkey, but you're being such a child about this.

My thoughts exactly.

I dont think any of both teams "dominated" the match or "deserved" to win....We just scored once more than they did. Thats it. Nuff said...to the final!!!! (Y)

The game was pretty balanced, not unfair loss for Turkey.

Good tournament run so far but it had to end and it did today.

Oh boy...another smart man. Why dont you blame Busacca for not seeing a clear foul on Lahm, which might have been a penalty? I´m sick of this, oh we deserved to win...oh we didnt have our best team on the pitch.....oh the opponent was playing downhills.....stop whining. As i said before....turkey was lucky the last 3 games...an unbelievable streak. But it had to end.

As for the Germans, I can certainly see them getting beaten by Spain if they played like they did for most part of the match(which I was able to see).........

Hitzlsperger really looks out of place in the German midfield, apart from a few wayward shots and the pass that gave Lahm the 3rd goal, he didn't look comfortable at all playing alongside Bally, Frings and Schweiny.............

Turkey DID play as we expected. With heart, determination and skill. The technical ability of Turkish players has never been in doubt, even before this tournament, but the one thing that made them better and more dangerous this time round, was the fact that they concentrated all their efforts on their football.

In the past, Turkish teams were always too fired up for big games, relying on intimidating the opposition with over aggressive behaviour, For decades we have seen the Turks lose the plot because of their hot headedness and frankly, violent behaviour. Not this time. This time they were in control of their emotions, they were cool, which allowed them to play their wonderful brand of football in a calm detatched manner. The end result of that self control has been there for all to see. Simply magnificent.

I was expecting the usual bloodfest from the Turks, which from my point of view was understandable, as I have never seen a match that Turkey participated in that was not cynical and nasty. Now this tournament has completely changed my attitude towards their team. They have changed big time and the nastiness and the bad attitudes of the past have been replaced by a more calmer and proffessional attitude. This allowed their football to shine through and believe me, Turkey have definately won me over from here on in. The preconceptions I held before no longer exist, and I am happy to have been proved wrong.:)

Be proud Turkey because your team were not just a credit to your country but a credit to the game of football.

It's understandable that the Turkish fans will feel down right now, but look at it this way. This tournament was a great victory for your country in many ways, not least because of the millions of new fans for your team including myself. That is something that I never, ever thought I would be able to say.

Look upon Euro 2008 as a dry run towards the World Cup in 2010, because this team will only get better, and thinking of having to play Turkey either in the qualifying stages, or in the tournament itself scares the sh!t outa me now, and thats something I have never had to worry about in the past.

So hard luck lads, see you in South Africa (If England make it that is;) ). Congrats to Germany for making it to the final even with a defence that has been unusually crap. All credit to them though for winning "the Turkish way", by scoring late in the game just when we thought it was extra time.

If Turkey would have had their missing players available, I think they would have made it through tonight, because Germany were poor in their defence and midfield. The Germans should be grateful that they did not have to face the strongest Turkish team, otherwise it is they who would be crying into their lager tonight.

A great game. Thanks, I enjoyed every single moment of it.:33vff3o:

I agree, except its not sure, that turkey would have played better with the complete a-team. The b-team actually played better (imo) than the a- team in the games before. But thats why we all love football...its unpredictable and full of surprises.:mike:

Sure Melvin, you are right of course, it is all so unpredictable.

At the end of the game, its who scores more goals that wins of course, and Germany did that tonight with some beauties. The winner from Lahm was a cracker. As was the first by Schweinsteiger, a beautiful clip with the outside of his boot.

What the feck was Lemon doing for the the goal that allowed Turkey to equqlise at 2-2? Man, that was a typical Lemon error, that has cost his teams dear in the past. He can be incredible one minute and bloody laughable the next. Low sure needs to sort out a few things before the final, and definately before the WC qualifiers.

Sad to see Rustu Recber's mistake for the Klose goal. I've always been a fan of Rustu. Credit to Klose though, a great leap and a great headed goal.

Lemon...lol....looked like he already was prepared to take the ball off the ground, his hands were already open to the ball. Therefore he didnt close the short post. Bad mistake indeed.
I think he will retire after Euro anyways, or will be forced to retire. But you know....the goalie was always one of our smallest problems. We have a lot high-quality-keepers.

You are an idiot mate. I know many jews and they are not so thick as to still, in this day and age, hold an entire country to blame for atrocities committed by their fore fathers.

Also remember this, your government to this day, give the rest of us what they consider to be plausible and excusable reasons why they order the murder of innocent Palestinian men, women and children by your own military. I'm not suggesting that the Palestinians do not do the same thing, but Israels hands are dripping with the blood of the innocent too. Remember that.

On a side note although still relevant, I had an uncle serving in the British army stationed in Palestine in the early 50's, who was abducted and publically hanged by Israeli terrorists, who then dragged his dead body behind a vehicle through the streets, while the supporters of these terrorists threw rocks at his dead body. He was not the only British peacekeeper to killed in this way.

I know that your education system does not teach you that the Israeli's were once murderous terrorists themselves. I know that these people are treated as freedom fighters and hero's in your country, but threin lies the conundrum. To some a freedom fighter IS a terrorist, but to others a terrorist IS a freedom fighter. It depends on which side of the fence you stand on doesn't it.

If I were to use your criteria for hate, I would hate Israel, also Japan and Italy for siding with the Nazi's too. Remember that many European countries sent trainloads of jews to Germany for extermination. They were just as guilty as Nazi Germany were.

Then you could include Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Thailand. The co- billigerent states of Finland and Iraq. The Italian puppet states of Croatia, Greece, Montenegro and Macedonia. The German puppet states of Slovakia and Albania. Axis collaborator states like France who also deported many jews to the gas chambers. Spain also supported Hitler, as did Russia until 1941 when the Nazi's invaded Poland.

Now you might say that many of these nations were forced to support the Nazi's through occupation, and you might be right. Just remember that to many many Germans, their country was also occupied during the WWII. It was occupied by the Nazi's , which they never did and never have supported.

I haven't even touched South American countries who supported Nazism, or indeed many in the Far East or other parts of the World.

So mate, either teach yourself the truth, because obviously the education system in your country clearly does not, or just STFU.

Shifty....did I read that post right, or are you just winding up our young friend here?

I think you took it a bit too far. There are a number of people here who are just ignorant or are joking. I think you found one of them there.
