Awesome goal by Di Maria... However, he shouldn't have been on the right. Whoever simulated my game switched Di Maria and Remy, and Rolfes should've been behind Pirlo and Guarin as a defensive midfielder (as I indicated by putting down 'DM').

Also, I'm disappointed my game wasn't in Juventus Arena, Xifio. I thought that's why you picked PAOK as my team, to annul the home team advantage. Whatever. A win is a win. (H)

And 4 corners in the last minute. That was great to watch :D
man, that stoppage time last more than a minute in real time, which is like 10 minutes in game time! :O

what would have been epic is if Joe Hart had scored with that scissors shot right at the death (H)

hahaha 1 shot = 1 goal vs 11 shots = 0 goals (H)
a prosaic 1-0 win that José would be proud of!

hah, I kid ... the stats make the match look worse than it was (skewed by all the stoppage time drama), but it still was another poor performance in a winning effort for my team ... there were periods of top-notch passing on the edge of the Psychos box, but no real conviction in the final third ...

yeah, that was me ... sorry about that ...

he was ... FIFA just makes the opening sequence formations look weird ... you can see the actual formation in the post-game player ratings screen, where clearly Rolfes is the DM ...

your team is PAOK coz Theo got Juventus ... and you'll be playing in a different neutral venue in every game, so I'll make sure one of them in the Group Stage is the Juventus Arena (Y)

another great match, this time between JJF and Rocky.
Considering the amount of scoring chances each team had, I feel Rocky was a little unlucky with the final result...good football all-round.

time to watch Legio x Rapists, should be a good one :icon_spyed:
edit
...and Legio's efficiency does it again against an opponent that clearly dominated the game...Xifio, you sneaky bastard (H)
Highlights: Zlatan's beautiful chip in the goal, Mavuba's horrendous shot in the edge of the area that went out for a throw-in and Hart's acrobatic shot in injury time almost stealing the show...good stuff!

and finally, kp40 with the upset of the round.
Alpha Betas dominated completely until they deservedly score, but kp40's reaction was energic enough to scrap the draw with a fine goal by my boy Moutinho! he also had 100% passing accuracy...what a player (H)

this is truly great fun, please keep up the wonderful work fellas (Y)

I was thinking that it'd be cool to save the top goals being scored throughout the competition and then have them up for voting on a poll to crown the best one in this FIFA Phase.
I don't know if it's possible though, given that the games are simulated...
I like the idea, though I think we can do this by just picking a Goal of the Round every Matchday, and then vote on them to pick a Goal of the Tournament ...

so, what are the nominations for this round?

we could also talk of the Player of the Round ... last time I was too hasty in saying Eto'o was the obvious choice, coz upon reflection, I think Adler's heroics were more deserving ... Džeko is the hat-trick hero this time round ... so is he the standout star of Matchday 2? or are there any other non-goalscoring performances that deserve recognition?

Okay, I've checked out on this already. FIFA computer vs. computer is a horrible simulation and I can't take watching guys literally walk up the pitch and score (see Ronaldo's goal) anymore. Jadson does a spin move for absolutely no reason, gives up the ball, and the other team comes down and scores. Why the spin? Horrifically unrealistic, and not to mention that even if it was realistic, 5 minute halves are far too short to get anything realistic. My lineup is the same for the rest of the games, please don't use me as a medium for rosters to turn in anymore.

I was worried when I saw the friendly preview, but hoped for the best, but watching these games so far has left me too disheartened to continue with interest. Hope my team wins, and we still can, but this is no legitimate way to decide who drafted the best team. Tactics don't seem to matter at all (actually my stupid diamond that I wouldn't use in real life seems to be exceptional). I can't even muster the 10 minutes to watch games that don't involve my own team anymore. I'm out from active participation.

do you watch many match sims in FM, Shifty? I've seen some crazily unrealistic sh!t there ... FIFA is the best visual simulation possible to pit team vs. team ... and it's a lot more fun than the voting 'on paper' phase ... don't puss out; keep your active participation alive, and enjoy it the best you can ...

Well the other part of it is that I don't think there's anything I can actually do to affect the results. As I said, my tactic seems to be fantastic as I've dominated both games despite unfortunate results, but it's horribly unrealistic. And did you see the Ronaldo goal? He dribbled about 40 meters while walking, got to about 10 meters out and then scored the easiest of goals.

FIFA is probably the most realistic it's gonna get in terms of gameplay, but I admit it's a bit ridiculous at times. Either way, I see no reason to overreact. I mean it's all in good fun, and you already won the first tournament.

ShiftyPowers

By no means am I saying that it should stop. It's just hard for me to be interested, and part of that is that it doesn't look like real soccer. But maybe you guys are right, I might just be burned out on this draft after running it for 3 months without a break. So, okay, GO ALPHA BETAS!! Disregard my last posts!

good man, Shifty! (Y)

but just to address the point: like in the voting phase, you can submit fully edited formations and role assignments for FIFA ... there was not much more you could do in the voting phase with tactics than you can do here when watching the simulation ... if anything, this adds the bit of 'on-the-day performance factors' that was missing from a purely 'on paper' analysis that was the voting phase -- as seen in your opening round, when your team came up against an incredible Adler ... honestly, it sounded like you were just trying to preemptively undermine the results of this phase ... but I'm glad you've changed your mind on the matter ...
