Coentrão is just one of the current best LB of the world.

Spain play with Capdevilla because there's only him.

Capdevila has almost 40 goals in La Liga in his career and is very good on the left flank. Coentrao has played less than 1 season at left back and for a good team.

EDIT: Spain has another certain Real Madrid player who is pretty good and can play left back. It's not like Capdevila takes Spain's level of play down. That's Torres' job.

Thats why i said "current". Look at Capdevilla age and Coentrão, Capdevilla is ending is career, Coentrão is beginning. And again, he's one of the current best at his position.

EDIT: Arbeloa, never liked him.

His age shouldn't have anything to do with it if he's still good, which Capdevila is. Our teams won't be playing each other in 3 years.

Good luck if you play him at RB.

Capdevila! Ohhhh yeahhhhh. Can score goals, get up and down the line, and solid in defense. The forgotten man for Spain, but he played every minute of the World Cup. Totally under the radar player, but right up there with the best; certainly better than the flash in the pan Coentrao (H)

I'm playing Ivanovic at RB, but Milner is a capable replacement if he gets injured, and he's got the energy to get back after he goes forward. I'd probably only use him there if the opposition's left flank is weak, and I need to chase the game. The key to having a good squad is having your replacements offer something different.

Im trying to find good players who can play more than one position. Like Coentrão, S. Ramos, C. Ronaldo... Milner was on my sight but i doubt that i would try to pick him. After i finish my initial line-up the "bench" players that i have on my sight can do more than 2 positions.

I agree. I think I have the base of my team set, and now I might start to go for some different kind of players.

I think of Ramos like a Micah Richards of sorts. He plays at RB, but he really can't do both tasks properly. Overrated RB, but if he knows he's going to be covered, or you somehow convince him to stay back, he could be useful.

Better RB than Milner, no doubt, but Milner adapts to new positions well enough.

Yeah, let us make all your decisions for you.

EDIT: Depending on how this is gonna go down, that's very possible, but in terms of assembling a working squad and tactic, I doubt it. Other than maybe Xifio and a few other veterans, I can't think of many people that make me worry.

I might lose votes from all the diagrams and pictures I post to explain my tactical system.

haha, you kno I was thinking the same thing recently ... I'm used to planning a 24-man squad when I do management games, so 18 was a little limiting, but an interesting challenge ... even with a reduced squad size, I was never going to plan for anything but a team with several possible setups and combinations; that itself is a few diagrams ... then I have player movement diagrams for the various plans of attack and defence, along with the more frequent events that occur during a match; again, several more diagrams ... then there's illustrations of the organization for various freekick types, corners, and other setpieces ... and that's just getting started ... it's just too much for a game of this level, surely?

coz after planning all that, the voters might -- as you suggest -- be wholly overwhelmed and/or bored, meaning they'd just glance at the squad, choose which players are their "deciders", and then place their votes ...

I think it may be too much even in terms of time for preparing all that to present at the start of the tournament, let alone for every match, and quite apart from having to read others' at the start of the tournament, and then for every match ... will be interesting how we keep it as simple as possible, but without sacrificing the part of the game that would separate novices from the elite ...
