What an unpleasent surprise!!! One of the best things about this game is international selection, so we can decide we players are playing in the worls cup, but missing Shearer, Caniggia, Romario and Roberto Baggio is too much. These are the players which peaople want to see in the world cup. Huge Mistake EA SPORTS!!!!!! Now that I´ve figured out this I won´t buy the game, because even if a pach is made to add these players it wouldn´t be the same. What do you think?

I can't believe I am actually defending EA on this but this is because these players in one way or another won't be at the WC this summer. Shearer because he retired from international competition. Roberto Baggio through injury although he might be included if he makes a healthy recovery. Romario won't likely be in the Brasil squad this summer. The same goes for Caniggia, I think.

Baggio scored two goals in his first game back so he may yet find a spot for him in KoreaJapan. One thing I find odd is how Mcmanaman is in the starting lineup for England in the game, but in real life he hasn't been called up in months. Obviously there's some favouritism in these picks as they do not reflect any current, or even semi-current match lineups.
Caniggia is one of Bielsa´s favourite players, and he will most probably be a starter for Argentina, over Ariel Ortega. He is the only one of the four mentioned that will be for sure in the World Cup. However, EA Sport´s should give us the chance to select these players to their national teams. Brazilian´s are wishing Scolari to call up Romario and the same thing happens with Trappatoni and Roby Baggio. And I´m sure that english people would like to see Shearer playing for England, even if he had already retired from international competition. All this veterans are loved by fans, and this game should pay more attention to people´s desires.

I agree with the principal that we should be able to call up the squads we want, Road to World Cup 98 had that bloody option, now they make the games on more powerful consoles and instead of adding more options they take some out???!!! anyone wanna explain the logic in that to me!
On the players you mentioned though only Caniggia is likely to go, Romarios knackered cos the coach doesnt like him and Trappatoni has said Baggio wont be going aswell. Like I said I do understand that you would like to pick them but as for Shearer, why when he quit international football ages ago!.

Every player on Inter Milan should be on any national team...they are just that good... 
But anywho, it would be cool if they put them in this game...Caniggia was one of the most talented footballers i had ever seen...sooooooooo fast...then after the Maradona scandal, they found Caniggia was also under the influence of narcotics, so his name was tainted for quite some time...but he made a name for himself with the Rangers this year, and should be on the squad.
Baggio should be in too...i'd purposely set the brazil italy friendly...tie it, and go to penalty shoot out...and this time have Baggio kick it towards the goal....
But seriously, video games are a way to fulfill ur will on the world cup, and if your hero is Shearer, Baggio, or even Cannigia (?), than what would be greater than having them kick the game winner!
