I started playing a while ago. Naturally, I started with Toronto FC, took them to the MLS Cup and the CONCACAF Cup final within a couple of years (it's amazing how just buying a couple of good Designated Players can make such a difference in MLS). Then I got hired by Stoke City in England, finished 9th and won the FA Cup, which got me a job offer from Liverpool. I bought Danny Welbeck (from Newcastle!) who scored 35 goals in his first season. I hardly brought in any players, but managed to make the Euro Cup final and win the FA Cup. I won the league on the last day of the season, popping ahead of Man City by two points (H). It's pretty easy, actually, or I've been really lucky.

Now Real Madrid has offered me a job, so I saved the game, then joined Madrid with a new save, sold all their players, spent their $350M transfer budget on crap players, sold all their stars for $0 and then quit. After that, the only offers were from crap teams, so I took it when Celta offered me a new job. I think I'll reload my Liverpool save and tell Madrid no (I couldn't actually play with Madrid and enjoy myself, it feels too wrong).

Hey Shifty, do you use any customized training schedules? This damn game is hooking me in (H)

I loaded the game where I had a job offer from Newcastle, rather than Liverpool, as I figured it would be more interesting to use a weaker team. Of course, they gave me a huge transfer budget, so I've bought a handful of very good young players and am sitting second in the Prem after 5 weeks (Y). Bombed out of the cup 4-1 to Watford, which was rather annoying.

Yeah, I usually have one for every position (wing, striker, AMC, CM, DM, DC, fullback, GK) and then I'll do personalized ones too for the really special young players.

I've been poking about on the websites and there seem to be some very well-done programs created by a couple of guys. I'll probably download them and check them out. I just fired my assistant and picked up a much better one. I'm slowly realizing how important staff, facilities and training really are in this game. It's really about more than having good players.

Right. What I mean is, for maximizing your talent, even on a team with a smaller budget than Real Madrid or City, who can just buy whichever player they want.
