I find it unfair, but AJAX and JUVE can waste any CL 3rd team. Teams such as Willem II, AIK, Maribor, etc, bleong in the UEFA Cup anyway.

If 3rd place teams shouldn't be there either should teams like Juve and West Ham who came through the useless Intertoto cup.

The way they set it up is terrable 2nd,and 3rd place teams should not be getting into the CHAMPIONS league it should be the champions of each european league that get in,thats the way it's supposed to be!

I agree with celtic fc - only the champions should play in the champions league - isn't that logic?? otherwise they should change the name of the tournament.

I'd rather have 4th placed Juve of the Serie A in the CL, than winner of Estonia, Latvia, Georgia etc, who does not stand a remote chance of winning it, then the CL would be to predictable.

A quote from Teamtalk's website
Players admit UEFA disinterest ««
Two key Arsenal players have admitted they feel it is daft that the club will now enter the UEFA Cup as a result of their Champions' League exit.
Nigel Winterburn and Ray Parlour have both revealed that the opportunity is a bizarre and not necessarily one the players actually want,
Winterburn said: "I think the whole thing is wrong, but the players don't make the rules", while Parlour added: "It is a load of rubbish playing in the UEFA Cup. I can understand the criticism."
The players' comments are echoed by many fans who consider the club's European ventures for the season to have run their course, but there is concern that the players will not perhaps be too fussed about making a go of it in the UEFA Cup even though they would have been if they had qualified for it

NUFF SAID !

With all those 3rd placed CL teams entered, the UEFA Cup suddenly got more competitive and stronger, not that that is a problem for AJAX, who are still easily going to win it.
