Sick of the cheating

I really love this game 90% of the time, but I am sick of the blatant cheating the computer uses to try and close the gulf.

Just now, I was playing Newcastle and all was good at 0-0, the game was flowing great. Then bang, Newcastle score, and all of a sudden after the restart my players completely lost all of their skill. All of my passes in the final third went to a Newcastle player without fail, my best dribblers with 96 accuracy couldn't even beat a lampost anymore and all of my shots were rediculously off target. I can normally knock the ball around the field with total ease, but I couldn't even string two passes together here and it was so frustrating.

Why do Konami have to make the AI cheat to bring your winning streaks to a halt? They're not even subtle about it. This isn't sour grapes cos I got beat either. I've lost 6 or 7 games in the last two days and would say I probably deserved to lose just about all of them. At least in them games it was my fault, shooting when I should have crosses and vice versa, pulling my defenders out to close down in the other team's half etc...

But this... this is just cheating. The computer basically stopped me from being able to play. I know a lot of you complain about the computer cheating all the time, but I don't notice it all the time. It happens maybe once every 20 matches, but when it does it is just devastating. 10 minutes of utter anger.

Anyway, sorry, just had to vent.

If it happens just exit the match man. You know you're going to find that particular game difficult.

I use the reset prevention feature though. I think its an excellent addition personally, cos in PES5 I did let the passion get the better of me and quit sometimes. It would be perfect if Konami complemented it the removal of the cheating.

Ehhh, I'm not interested in any gameplay patch to be honest. Aren't they just modifying of player's attributes? If everyone's skills are changed proportionately the same, then there's really not going to be any difference. is there?. A patch from Konami with tweaked AI is what I would like.

Bollocks. The 'cheating' has been in this game for as long as I can think. No patch will ever get rid of it. It's what PES Single Player is based on. Frankly I am tired of it. Occassionally I still fire it up and play a match or two, but it doesn't take long until this game is infuriating the hell out of me. I hope the next-gen release will have a next-gen AI too. It's just getting so incredibly boring and predictable.

I wouldnt call these cheating at all. When a team goes up it often takes the ascendancy in a match. When a team goes up by 2 they more often than not shut up shop against the opponents and apply more pressure. Just like in real life, if you are pressured when in possession the chance of a turnover is much greater.

Against higher ranked teams it must seem like cheating. I lost to Chelsea 2-0 but it was simply because when they had the chances to score they did and then they defended like mad. It's no cheating there, I would do the same too.

The only 'cheating' I could mention would be this. If you score a goal in a tight game I have noticed on 3 and 4 stars (havent played enough on 5 yet) that when the opponents restart they often give the ball to a fast striker and he will literally run straight at the goal and be unstoppable. No matter who it is, it could be a lousy dribbler vs a strong defender (or two) they always seem to be untouchable and often equalise moments after you score.

Thats my only complaint with the AI of PES. Of course, it could just be me letting my guard down but it seems to happen far too often.

I had a game like that once. It was the second last game of the season, and if I won it I would have won the League Title. I'm pretty good at this game and play on 5 stars but I had to replay that game 9 times before I finally won it.

I would usually lead in the first half and let in 2 goals in the second half. I lost or drew in all the 9 games. It was an [away] game and I realised that I always let in goals in the 2nd half becos my men were totally exhausted after 10-15 mins becos I kept chasing a 2nd goal (i have team strategy on auto-attack). I finally won when I changed tactics and defended only in the 2nd half, passed the ball around in the back... and kept my player's stamina up..

I always replay tough away crucial games if I lost cos I wanna find a way to beat the AI. And you're right, once in a while, especially in crucial matches, the AI ups its game and exhaustion sets in for your men at a faster rate, but there's always a way to beat it. You just have to find it.

I don't think substituting the players is a good idea. You have to face it, no one (but maybe they will) will be knowledgeable enough to fix the 'cheating'

It's about 15% AI and 85% mental.

Your mind is your worst enemy when you're down by one goal with 10 minutes to go.

My advice is: Don't start to panic when they get the lead. Stay calm. I keep that in my head and I win most of the time.

PS: I'm not some freak.

hehe i wouldnt call it cheating. in real life footy its not uncommon when you go a goal down for your team to fall apart, you've just got 2 deal with it, just as its not uncommon to come straight out the blocks and be all over them until you score an equaliser. im not gunna lie, when im playing and my team are playing liek a bunch of wet paper bags it makes me fairly angry to :)

my advise is when your under pressure just try and get hold of the ball and pass it around between your keeper and back 4 for a bit until it seems like you have some control over the game again.

also i dont know if its just me but i swear the refs are against me aswell, i was playing the international challenge with me beloved netherlands :) and i found that when i got to the real crucial games in the final 16 that the refs blew up for every tackle i made, and i know damn well that in any normal game i could produce that tackle time after time with no problems, yet every single time the ref blew up and usually carded me, yet my opponents had no problems, oOOOOHooohhohhhHHH it made I as angry as a blackman with an afro :kader: , but in the end i won the games and the tournie without having to reload at any stage :) very fulfilling

and as much as the keepers make saves look so much sexier, i do feel ive met single celled organisms with a greater AI, if the big vdSar make 1 more skoolboy error i swear im gunna swing for him

so yeah, you gota take the good with the BAD baby!!!

Peace homies, The Phatest :fool:

I doubt that PES 6 has hired some developers from FIFA, this kind of cheating is a characteristic of FIFA, and also too many rebound, this is the reason why i gave up FIFA 06 where 90% of the goals came from a rebound

Does everyone try the 45 degree angle shoot? very very very high percent to goal, this is also similiar to FIFA 06

Common Cheats:

1) No matter how you shoot , even if you are inside the small box between the penalty spot and the goal, the ball will go over the bar with the power bar at max. (its almost impossible to do a tap in)
2) Your players run at the same speed as the cpu when chasing the ball, especially if you have a faster plyaer. The reverse is not true as the cpu will get to the ball first.
3) No matter how you challenge for the ball, the ball spin directly to a cpu player, even if there are 5 of your players to the cpu's 1. What makes it worse is that if the ball goes towards your player, your player will not move, even if the ball is near his foot. (sometimes my player will run away from the ball)
4) Cheap cpu goals. Cpu makes a low power low height shot at your goalie from outside the box and your goalie dives out the way.
5) Cheating corner goals. The cpu is taking a corner, you can see there big player move up, you know where the ball is going, you cannot select your tallest player and even if one of your othere players is near they will not jump or you cannot switch to them. The cpu will then get an easy header on goal.
6) Useless throwin system. A lot of times when defending a throwin none of your players are even near the thrower, defend the wrong side or even don't show up on screen.
7) Defending. The cpu has one attacker up front and 1 of my defenders is always marking him while my over 2 or 3 defenders are pushing up. This alwaays gives the cpu a lot of 1 attacker vs 1 defender chances. (what happend to line defence)
8) Pulling shirt - The cpu can hold onto your fastest player and will hardly ever give a foul away, but if your player just touches the cpu player you will often give away a foul.
9) Passing is worser than Pes5 to players who are close to you. Too many times the ball will go to a player who is not the closest to you.
10) Players still jump, slide tackle and head the ball even when you don't press a button, often giving away a foul or giving the ball back to the cpu player.

One of the main reasons there is a lot of cheating is that PES is programmed for the PS2. The PS2 does not have the cpu power for any major improvements in A.I, ball physics, refs etc. So in order to make the cpu give you a hard game Konami just added some simple cheats. After a while for alot of players the cpu will become easier and more goals will be scored (most shots will still go above the bar even for open goals).

Improvements
1) Crossing - no longer a balloon pass, there is now a difference between using R1,R2 and normal cross.

PES5 was much better.

I don't know why ppl here just don't take their rose tinted glasses off and admit PES6 is rubbish on the PC.

The online game is appalling....

Is it me but why does your team never close in/ chase on the opposition. If the oppo has the ball all my players just stand around and do nothing. The only way of winning the ball is with the player i am controlling.

On PES5 your teammates closed in on the oppo.

i like this system

when a team gets behind, they will rush more and play more bad passes, so it's realistic and you still can win when you get behind it's just more difficult

lol. i feel the same way. Sometimes i just start whining at my monitor when i'm behind. I blame the AI but it's more than likely just my fault for playing frustrated.
