The teams in "Liga za obstanek" can't they win the league, even how good they play?

No more on this season, I suppose. That's how it works on some small countries leagues.

I think Scandinavian/Nordic football would deserve it's own thread too. There are Danes, Norwegians, some Swedish fans and two Finns around here.

Why don't you start one, you can call it "Nordic Leagues" or something. Then we can talk about all the nordic leagues and the upcomming Royal League in all one thread. It would be great.

Sorry Drvar, I know this has nothing to do with the Slovenian League.

as long as someone posts here, its all good :).

there are no best teams this year, as you see. two games ago, four teams had an equal amount of points, with another one a point behind. this season is one of the most "tight".

the league exists since the year 91. here are the past winners:
1991/92: SCT Olimpija
1992/93: SCT Olimpija
1993/94: SCT Olimpija
1994/95: SCT Olimpija
1995/96: HIT Gorica
1996/97: Maribor Branik
1997/98: Maribor Teatanic
1998/99: Maribor Teatanic
1999/00: Maribor Teatanic
2000/01: Maribor Pivovarna Laško
2001/02: Maribor Pivovarna Laško

The last 8 years its been the same team (different sponsors), so you could say Maribor is the strongest. I don't have the information about the cup winners, ill try to find it :). Gorica, Mura, Olimpija and Maribor are the teams that have always been in this league, and even though Mura hasn't won the title yet, they've been damn close a lot of time, and they've won the cup a few times.

And the teams in "liga za obstanek" can't get higher than 6th spot, no matter how good they play. it kind of sucks, i know, im just happy Mura qualified :).

I stopped posting for a while, kinda got sick of our league, pissed off at my team. They were playing really ****ty, without any heart and the fans decided to threat them, etc etc, since that threat, we won 2 games (altogether 3 out of 9 so far in this "League for Champion"), and if we wouldnt have lost the last game 4-1, we would be in the Intertoto cup spot.

But since today is the final match day, i decided i'll post the table, and comment a bit.

NK Mura plays NK Maribor, who is currently atop of the table, and this game will most likely decide the champion. With Mura being 6th, out of the Intertoto spot chance, or any other european competition, a lot of people are suggesting the game will be "sold". But Mura and Maribor are eternal rivals, and the fans would probably kill the players if they lost this game.
The stadium will be full (its only 5400, but hey, our city is like 15k :)), and lots of problems are expected with fans.

Todays matches:

Liga za prvaka:
Mura - Maribor
Olimpija - Primorje
Gorica - Koper

Liga za obstanek:
Šmartno - Ljubljana
Drava - Domžale
Publikum - Dravograd

now here's the table (in the "Liga za obstanek" the information is incorrect, Ljubljana is actually leading with 42 points):

Drvar

Starting XI
NK Mura - Maribor 2:1

what a ******* match. we destroyed them. Mura played like they should today, and erased Maribor's chances for another title.

This years champion is Gorica.

dont have an updated table picture, so ill just post it manually:

1. Gorica 56
2. KD Olimpija 55
3. Maribor Piv.Laško 54
4. Koper 50
5. Mura 49
6. Primorje 48

7. Ljubljana 42
8. Domžale 41
9. Šmartno 40
10. CMC Publikum 39
11. Kumho Drava 28
12. Dravograd 25

and so the Slovenian league ends. See you next season :).

Here we are again, new season started on Friday, i will only be posting Mura's results in this thread, and the table. Currently the eternal derby is being played, Maribor - Mura, after half an hour of play, Maribor had a ****load of chances, but Rakovic scored in the 21. minute, so far, 0-1. If Mura won today, it would be an excellent start to the season.

Just so you guys are up to date :).

Gorica..................... 8
Mura ...................7
Kumho Drava(-1).....7
CMC Publikum......... 6

An update, 4 rounds have been played (1 match tomorrow to be played), and Mura are 2nd in the league. Today we beat KD Olimpija for the first time in 5 years at their stadium, but they have had a ****load of problems, the first 3 rounds, they couldnt play because of sickness in the team, and the whole team, even the youngsters were sick.

So there you go, see you in a few match days :).

Today, 27-year old goalkeeper of NK Ljubljana, Nedzad Botonjic died of a heart-attack in practice. He just collapsed on the field, and even though he was treated immediately, he died.
Thats damn sad, 27 years old, i mean how the hell do these things happen.
Rest in peace.

(i didnt want to post this in a new thread, since most arent interested)

Man, this is getting dangerous, it's sad to say it's inevitable it will keep on happening... I'm worried it's gonna happen in the SPL soon actually. :(

Starting XI
end of another pathetic season.

(League for Champions)
Gorica 65
CMC Publikum 52
Domžale 52
Primorje 46
Kumho Drava 46
KD Olimpija 37
(League for relegation)
Maribor Pivovarna Laško 51
Mura 44
Ljubljana 42
Bela Krajina 37
Koper 36
Zagorje 14

Gorica are champs again, without much trouble, since the league is so sh*t. Mura finished 8th, even though we had probably the most star-studded team of the league again, 2 years in a row. doesnt help though, old debts are coming to haunt us, we got relegated to the III. league today, along with Olimpija and Ljubljana, the club will probably disband or something, god knows what.
see you next season :).
