Well, at least two of ESPN's talking heads thought the Aussies would advance before the tournament started. Also the US played the Czechs, Australia played Japan. Slight difference in competition. If Ghana is anywhere near as good as people say the US's group is a monster, unfortunately for us.

So whats the story here, did we just play BAD? showed no hear? or just not to our full potentail, or are they just that much better than us?
From the articles/posts I've read you're in one of three camps as far as why we got creamed.
A) It's all Bruce Arena's fault. He made bad tactical decisions. He overworked the players, played them out of position, and used a 4-5-1 when we didn't have the personnel for it. He also isn't fiery enough on the sideline, and the players are tired of being yanked around by him and his perpetually late lineup decisions.
It's the player's fault. Beasely looked like a deer in the headlights. Landycakes testicles spent more time withdrawn inside his body than he did in the front third. Gooch was more concerned with his transfer than winning the game. Reyna is cursed(we haven't won a game in the cup with him starting). Etcetera.

Good enough to stomp Brazil 4-0 Rosicky is the reincarnation of that german guy on the nike add and Nedved is a blonder Beckham. Cech is impenetrable. Koller got so tired of kicking our ass he popped his hammy. The backliners eat American attackers for breakfast.
My own personal opinion? A little of all three. The Czechs certainly looked good. Our players certainly played bad, and Arena's brilliant strategy ploys certainly didn't work out like he planned. Call it the perfect storm of suckiness. Whatever happened I hope we don't see a repeat of it on Saturday.
