Someone Help Me From The Awful Donavon Cover

Be glad it's Donovan on the cover and not Mia Hamm (no offence ladies) :crazyboy:

On another note, I think the US team did so well in the world cup mainly because of the fact that many players are based in European leagues and get the correct exposure.
But don't forget that this was a world cup full of upsets.
Who would have predicted S-Korea would reach the Semis.
Senegal, Turkey, USA were the big upsets.

It's a good thing if the US does well, that means more coverage on TV, more publicity for the beautiful game.

I think I agree with what the originator of this post is saying... even though I dont hate landon donovan... i think that he should not be on the cover because he's only been a star for uMm almost a year... I think EA should have put Claudio Reyna or McBride or John O'brien... I think these players are more established at club n country level than donovan is... but donovan is a great player...i think he is one of the few americans that can play the beautiful game....hMmmm... I think I would have liked the cover more if Edgar Davids was on it...he is a classic soccer player...i loved watching him play soccer when he wasa over here playing against the US in a friendly b4 the WC...he was absolutely brilliant with the ball!!!!!!!!

hMMm...well best of luck for donovan n the us team...great team!!!!

Well about the us doign so well because of european based players is true to a extent... I would love to see other us players play there.. but lets be real here.... All but ONE goal the US scored, was scored by MLS based players... 1 gainst Portugal (McBride) and 2 if you count Agoos brillant own goal :), 1 againt Korea (Mathis), 1 against Poland (Donovan), 2 against Mexico (McBride, Donovan). So as we can see the MLS had had a huge impact on the US National team... and we would NOT have done so well without it. Just look through-out the years when all we had was players playing pro elsewhere. Never did so well.. MLS is big... but would love to see the likes of Mathis and beasley and others playing in Europe.

Look, i don't hate u. Just, i don't like your style of life. Why? There must be 60% of american people who don't know what is football (a real name for the game where players using their legs to move the ball, not soccer). I just don't understand how can u call your game (like rugby) football? Players in that game r using only 5% to move a ball with their legs.
Why it is not "american rugby" and not "american football" like it is now?
I have to agree with you the game called football here in the states is an utterly stupid sport, they call it a man's game yet there nothing more than a bunch of pansy's in tight's:hump: even more so women play the game now. Also awhile back the US Soccer Federation even said that the idiots who started American football stole the name from the more popular sport Soccer(Football) in order to attract people and it's the truth!!

There is nothing wrong or wimping about american football.. only the name is wrong... they are HARDLY wimps in tightes... its a great game. Soccer is still the best.

What's a name?

And don't knock American Footbal... It may not be Soccer, but it really is an interesting sport to watch... especially in a stadium of 80,000 screaming College students like here in Austin

With due respect to the NFL, calling the sport "American Football" is laughable, especially when they hold the "ball" most of the time with their hands. The use of feet is far less in this sport.
It may be manly, with all the physical tussling and it may also be very popular here in the States, but to call it "Football" and to call the real football "soccer" is a joke IMHO.

All I know is we very easily could have been in the Semi's this year.. anyone that says other wise is fooling themselves. I havent heard it any other way.. even Germany's own players knew they were outplayed.
Actually your the one fooling yourself the WC is not like the olimpics it's much harder to win a WC than at the olimpics where the USA always does well,Look at the examples of England and Spain they both have World Class Leagues yet England has only managed to win 1 WC and that was in 1966 on their home soil which is a shame really(no offense to the English) since the English practically invented the modern game of Football. Now for Spain, Spain has arguably the best League in the world they always come to WC with no lack of talent and something big is always expected of them yet the best they've ever managed was a 4th place finsh at a WC about 60 years ago.Oh I'm also forgetting about Holland(or the Netherlands by which ever name you want to call it)Holland didn't even make it to the World Cup despite having a star studded team though they've had a huge impact at past World Cup's they've made it to the WC Final about 2 or more time's once they lost to Argentina the other time they lossed it to Germany. These are all fine examples of Country's boasting World Class Leagues as well as players, Country's where there's no lack of talent or intreset and support on behalf of the people of all ages and gender. These are all things the USA does not have they don't have the players or the League nor the support of the people which is of utmost importance.England,Holland,Spain it took them many a decade to get where they are today so to say the USA is going to win a WC or have a real impact on World Football is ridiculous and laughable,I have nothing against the USA there performance at this year's WC was good, but in the end all i'm trying to say is the USA won't be wining a WC or have a REAL presence in World Football anytime soon simply because they don't have the history though this year's WC was a good start. :mrpimp:

What is your point?

Are you saying we can't be a top team anytime soon? The US has done great in recent years and will continue to improve. Mayb we won't win a WC but that doesn't mean we won't be a top team.

Are you serious? Tell that to the many players who have had career ending injuries, who have been paralyzed, who have even been killed. Football is one of the most violent games on earth and you have to be TOUGH as hell to survive it.

Yes that's exactly what I was trying to say the US won't be a top team anytime soon if you think they will be or already are than you are fooling yourself, a few good showings mean nothing if you can't mantain consistency which is something they have not been able to do.

All I have to say is NFL American football sucks ass. :rockman:

It requires little skill, and most of the players are fat slobs jumping on each other.

Football is the most beautiful sport. :rockman:

Rotarx,

I couldn't DISAGREE more. The US is CLEARLY getting better and players from around the globe even acknowledge this.

Hydro,

Have you ever played football (american)? While it may not be the most popular sport around the globe, it DOESN'T suck. It may not require as much skill as football (the kind played with your feet) or be as physically demanding for that matter but it certainly doesn' suck. I'm not a fan of, let's say rugby, but i sure as hell whouldn't say it suck's. Comment's like this suggest, well...i'll let you figure it out.

I didn't say the US wasn't get better I said there a long way from being a top team or do you guys not know what that means, you make it sound like US was a world class team and there not even close.

The US is getting better, and can beat anyone on any given day, like most top 20 teams, you never know.. nothing is a given...

As for the dopes saying NFL doesnt require skill, all I can do is laugh... there is NO professional sport that doesnt require skill, NFL requires tons of skills as a whole more skill is required bv different position then say soccer. The lineman (the ones youc all fat slobes) have to have great stamina and blocking skills, and they are in physically good shape, even if they are fat.. they have to bend down all game, blocking much faster, sometimes stronger guys.. Quarterbacks have to completely different skills...

NFL as a whole requires a HUGE amount of skill... Look I dislike Crickett, but I would never be so nieve to say that is required no skill. Saying stuff like that shows that either your completely ignorant, or you 12 years old.. and dont know any better.

PS btw: US is a world talent at soccer.. are they a top 5, world class World Cup contender.. umm not really.. but we did finish 8 out of 32, and very easily should of beaten Germany, who we outplayed.. So give up some respect.

World Class eh, remeber the 3-1 spanking at the hands of Poland  it could have easily been 6-1.

Haha, quite the flamewar, seriously though, we all know Football rules, which is why we are on this forum. But c'mon saying something like "American Football requires no skill" is just a rather abrasive way of saying "I don't like it."

I personally enjoy American Football (even though the Vikings SUCK), but I can't respect a sport with *commercial breaks* written in the rules (quarters, two-minute warnings to name a few) as much as I do real Football. Also American Football has way too much downtime. If some of you Europeans wonder why Americans can watch such a slow sport, grab an assload of beer and friends and watch it :mrpimp: then you'll see.

Also I don't think Football is gaining popularity in America. The massive amount of fair-weather fans (not to mention the INSANE patrotism during that time) that peeked out during the World Cup already forgot what the sport is.
