Song at the end of the game?

I've heard this song played a couple of times, but I heard it today when Italy won against Australia when the game was over with some song was playing in the back ground, some guy was singing. I've searched every where, any one have any ideas of who it could be? I heard it after Italy's games so I'm not sure if that's a song they play for them but any help would be great, thanks.

I didn't hear the song after today's game because I was going nuts but after every game they play "Go West" from the Pet Shop Boys. I think after Italy's 1st game they played "Azzurro" from Adriano Celentano.

anyway at both of matches ive been to they played that song after the game followed closely by shakira and wyclef

Its funny, because Azzurro sounds somewhat similar to Go West, but I remember thinking "hey, that sounds familiar" after even the first match of the tournament

What I meant was the music playing in the stadium. I think it was Rod Stewarts- Everytime we say goodbye, which is feauted on the WC 2006 cd. I think I'm right.

by the way, it's just a cover of "go west" ... the text is "Stand up ... for the champions" ... and the voice sounds more like an opera singer than the Pet Shop Boys

Maybe it has to do with "Il divo" (that "group" which produced one of the official songs for WC 06, "time of our lives", which also sounds quite classical).

Anyway, this is what they are playing straight after the match, but after that, they are playing music depending on who won the game ... for Italy they play "Azurros", that's right, I was in the Fritz-Walter-Stadion (Kaiserslautern) when Italy played against the Aussies.

If the Aussies had won I'm sure they had played "I come from a land down under" They did that before the match ^^

For Spain they played "Viva Espana" by the way ...
