Yeah, true.

I think Aberdeen are finally, after 10 years of dross, finally getting back on track, Hibs are enjoying one of their better spells of the last 20 years, Hearts will hopefully pick up again after a flat 2nd-half to last season.

It somehow makes me think Scottish footbll is looking more healthy when the big teams are doing well, rather than the dodgy years when pishy teams like Dunfermline, St Johnstone, Livvi, Dungdee and Killie were up in the top 3 or 4 and the Dons, Arabs and Hibees fighting relegation.

Let's hope we get a bit of quality this season and let's hope it comes from the Scottish lads.

I wonder if the likes of Stephen Simmons and Whymiss would like a wee spell in Lithuania... :D

Certainly, Burley's being going about himself the right way the first day - aware of what has to be done, what can be done (within reason) and the need to bring in new faces (according tae Dode, there's dosh available for a few players - how much, we'll find out in the next few weeks). Also seems to recognize youth development and the importance of training is absolutely vital.

I guess time will tell, so no more talk from me (unless it's new signings :().

to be honest the 2 seasons hearts finnished 3rd was only because everyone else was utter shíte. atleast it looks like we've got some other half decent outfits in this league now

A bit of both. No doubt we were crap those 2 years yes, and everyone else was total mince. But at the same time, neither Hibs, Aberdeen or any other side outwith the Old Firm have turned into great teams last season, while some of the performances under Robbo were just shambolic, minus winning in Basel really, which we were extremely lucky to do.

Going on about Burley, it seems he's a 'flair' manager... I have an extremely bad feeling now :(. We are a Route 1 side. Anything else is unacceptable. I for one am not going to chug at 3 passes being put together by us in midfield before a pass is scuffed and goes out of play, like some fans of other clubs in this league. Why does everyone hate Route 1 anyway? Bloody hell, it works!

Unless he brings players in of Old Firm quality or above, then keep dreaming. Nothing is more wonderful than a glorious punt to a big arse striker. (Y)

just heard you's are interested in boyd :(

although most hearts fans are sayin he's way below the calbre hearts should be goin for! good luck in the race for albertz by the way (H) :fool:

Kris Boyd, well, hardly a Ronaldinho type, but nobody is in the SPL.

Give me a choice between him and Graeme Weir though and I'll mug you for Boyd. :$

Aberdeen have completed the signing of Dundee striker Steve Lovell on a three year deal and boss Jimmy Calderwood is understandably delighted to have finally landed the 24 year old. "It's well known that Steve is a player I've targeted for some time and he's a cracking addition to the squad, particularly as it looked like we had lost out to Leicester in the chase to bring him on board."
The former Portsmouth front man is equally pleased to have finally ended the speculation as to where he would be playing his football during the coming season. "I had the chance to move down south but I always wanted to stay in Scotland if I could. Aberdeen is a very big and ambitious club that is on the up right now and I'm really looking forward to being a part of that. While I enjoyed my time at Dens, I'm an Aberdeen player now and I'm just looking forward to repaying the faith the manager has shown in me by being a success at Pittodrie."

The Amersham born striker, who has been allocated squad number 9, will travel to Holland with his new team-mates tomorrow. Lovell joined Dundee from Portsmouth three years ago, and was previously on the books at Bournemouth.

£250k is a bit steap but atleast we got a good striker in for once. to be honest ide of preffered boyd but lovell is not to be sniffed at :rockman: rumour has it we're tryin to get maloney on a season long loan and apparently the boy gallacher from negroburn has turned us down :( meh

Moments before his revelation concerning Derby County, Calderwood discloses that he is waiting for a call from Lovell. But isn’t he destined for Leicester? With one eye on a silent mobile phone, he says: “Peter Marr wants him to go to England, and his girlfriend wants him to go south as well. Listen, obviously with Leicester coming in, I don’t think we have the financial clout they have. You cannae win for money and you cannae win for girlfriends and wives.

“Still, I’m waiting to hear from him and I’m optimistic. He’s a bit mixed up, but I’ve told him: ‘Look, son, you know the way they play down there – 4-5-1 crap. It’s the long ball to big Mark [de Vries] and there are two or three of you looking for knock-offs. You’re not that type of striker. You’re 24 years old and you’re going down there probably as a sub. See if you do at Aberdeen what you’ve done at Dundee, you’re a f****** hero. Then you go down in two or three years as a top striker and not a sub.

“‘Now I can understand if it’s for the money, but if you’re a fitba man, there’s only one chance and you’ll f****** enjoy yourself. I’ve got the best assistant manager in the world [Jimmy Nicholl] and you’ll have a laugh. Aberdeen’s no’ a bad city, either. If you’ve ever been to Leicester, you cannae wait to get out of it! Mind you, you’ve done all right in Dundee…’ Yeah, I’ll be disappointed if Stevie doesn’t come.”

Heart of Midlothian plc today announced the appointment of Julija Goncaruk (28) as a new non-executive director of the company. Ms Goncaruk is only the second female director in the club's history.

This appointment follows the resignation of Chris Robinson as a director. Mr Robinson has served as chairman, vice chairman, chief executive and a non-executive director during an eleven year tenure at Tynecastle.

Because Jimmy was SOOOOO much better than that formation, I mean each time he totally outsmarted it with his 2-4-4 (Another 'flair fitbaw' merchant - probably the sunstroke he has is that severe he thinks he's in charge of Barcelona) and always beat Levein's sides hands down.

Everyone greets about a defensive formation, and couldn't wait to slag off Hearts for using it. Why? It worked!

haha heard that before... what a retard (H) "he's no finnish, he's only 28!!" :D

anyway, ken fit lads... its time for some predicitons :chew: cos it was the talk of the pub last night. so here's how i reckon the SPL will finnish. Much the same as last years really...

1. Rangers
2. Celtic
3. Hibs
4. Aberdeen
5. Motherwell
6. Hearts
---
7. Kilmarnock
8. Dundee United
9. Inverness
10. Livingston
11. Dunfermline
12. Falkirk

the huns just took the league title last season, but with the signings they've made and the signings celtic have made they should wipe the floor with the tims next season. i expect half decent teams from the SPL to close the gap on the old firm this season... possibly just 15 points behind?

ive got hibs in 3rd because although i think aberdeens starting 11 is better than theres we have no depth what so ever. when nicholson or smith are out then we're gonna have to bring ricky foster or scott muirhead into the team and thats why i think we'll just manage 4th. I'm expecting big things of Motherwell! they are improving every season and have got some decent players and I think they can challenge for 3rd.

Now, just because I don't have Hearts winning the treble doesnt make me a bad person :( I think it might be a season to soon for all there foreigners and they might struggle. This is just my opinion, not a fact, and it doesnt make me a bad person :(

Think United will challenge for the top 6 then fade after the split and all the teams i've got below them will be in the relegation battle. Mainly I think it'll be between the 2 fife minks which will be interesting.

Scottish Cup: Celtic
League Cup: probably Rangers, they say there not bothered about this tournement so why do they stick out there strongest possible team for every game :| if not them then Hearts!!

First Division: St Johnstone - hope so, their hot dogs are amazing.
Second Division: Gretna - bank rollin it
Third Division: eer.. Queens Park?

I'm confident that Rangers will do well this season. We won it last year and we were pretty crap but Celtic was just that bit crapper :rockman:

We have a better squad and have made some quality bosman signing's which will do well.

I think Hibs and Aberdeen will battle again and could be joined with Hearts whih should be good as usually only one of these teams has a god season with the other two being crap. Motherwell haven't really made any signing's to improve on last year but I can see them finishing in the top 6.

I hope Rangers can progress to the Champions League proper and do well and also I will be supporting Hibs and hope they can put a run together and also fly the flag for Scotland.

http://jamboskickback.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7908&view=findpost&p=115721 This post pretty much captures my sentiments at this moment in time.

OK, a bit of the heart ruling the head, but seriously, f*ck it. Let's just have a go. I'm sick and f*cking tired of there being a third place ceiling on this league.

Doubtless I'll get laughed at by all on here. Fair enough. But seriously, I've had enough of the stagnant status quo of the SPL. Let's f*cking noise them all up this season!
