Spurs Unveil New Club Badge!

The Club today unveiled a new Club badge, the first new design since 1983. As well as replacing the old Club badge, the new design also replaces the Club crest, which was first introduced in 1956.

At the centre of the badge is the ‘Cockerel and Ball’, an image synonymous with the Club and throughout its history. It also carries the Club name, Tottenham Hotspur, the true, official name of the Club. It is unique. In a world of Uniteds, Citys and Rovers, there is only one Hotspur.

The new badge was designed following an extensive research programme that included consultation with groups of supporters, representatives of the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust and other key stakeholders, including shareholders, ex-players, Club officials and long-standing members of staff. These workshops were used to define the Club’s values, vision and personality.

Built around the Club’s core values of style, passion, unity, respect and sharing, the new Club badge has been created with the Club’s heritage at its heart whilst having a contemporary style that reflects the Club’s vision and motto of Audere est Facere (to Dare is to Do).

The Cockerel has been re-drawn to appear sleek and proud, athletic and elegant; its whole style is focused and alert. The Ball is taken from the original Cockerel and Ball that first sat on the roof of White Hart Lane in 1909, when former player William James Scott cast a copper centrepiece to perch on the new West Stand. Because of the style of the ball, the design is unique to Tottenham Hotspur. Such is the strength of the new badge, the Club name will not appear on the shirt version, which will be launched in the summer.

Daniel Levy, Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur commented: “The new Club badge is a powerful, modern identity. We have sought to reflect our traditions as well as our reputation for style. We knew it would be important to develop a badge everyone would feel was progressive, but without any sense of loss of our proud heritage and I feel we have achieved that. It has a contemporary feel that reflects the youth and dynamism of the Club, as well as expressing our ambitions and aspirations.”

:clapwap: I like it. They did their homework and did a good job... it's reminiscent of the 60's logo/shirts but is clean and contemporary looking. The typeface is nice but might've looked better straight instead of curved.

Honestly, I think they made a mistake. It seems quite the rage to go retro with kits and badges lately, but without a little color thats just boring

I understand the idea is to indicate another spurs rebirth and hearken back to the glory days, but I doubt that logo has many people jazzed for the clubs future

Well I don't think this is the color version... it's just black and white. Probably will be navy blue or reversed in white on navy anyway. Regarding the fans I disagree but logos are always tough... you'll never satisfy everyone.

Very strange. I reckon if any of the La Liga badges were changed the fans would be in a complete uproar.

La Liga badges have been tweaked over the ages also... look at Madrid or Barca's logos and you'll see subtle changes over the years.

Its just to keep up with the times... granted those changes weren't as drastic as what Arsenal or Tottenham made to theirs...

Ice did you favor the enhancement to the Juventus badge? I think they did a nice job on it.

The Arse's new logo is an improvement but they messed up the most critical element... the cannon. I think that upset most gooners. Could've done better on that but the type, shield shape and colors they handled well.

Arse's old logo was jokes. It looked like a medieval ice cream.

Most Arsenal fans want it back. It had to be changed because people were making knockoffs and we couldn't sue because we couldn't copywrite the badge.

Same reason with our old logo, the CFC and lion, it was brought in for the same reason despite many fans wanting the older logo.

The new logo looks like a modernised version of the old and most fans are very happy with it

Help?

It's all commercialism. United's old logo imo looked better as well. Arsenal's old logo looked better too, but i agree with hope that it kind of brought thoughts of medevil ice cream to me as well. Chelsea's new one is class, we should do the same and improve our logo, but bring back the ship and maybe the red yorkshire roses. Infact, why not just bring the old logo back at all, but be the best looking one like in the world.

yep. Liked it a lot. Just looks so much more contemporary. While I'm all for sticking to tradition, sometimes, even something as sacred as a club logo needs a facelift.... And with facelift I mean just that. The essence needs to be maintained.

I like this new Tottenham logo also although I'd like to see how they use it on a shirt.

Arsenal's logo though... (N) ... just too many changes and it just doesn't look classy.

I think most of the clubs' old logos are much better than the new ones, they make people feel the rich traditions and hisotories of theirs. The new ones just looks like another NBA club.
