Steve Irwin dead

The naturalist and television star Steve Irwin has died in a diving accident in far north Queensland. He was 44.

Police say he was stung through the heart by a stingray while diving off Port Douglas. He was filming a documentary when the accident occurred around midday AEST near the Low Isles. A helicopter arrived with paramedics on board to try to resuscitate him, but it was too late.

Australian environmentalist and television personality Steve Irwin has died during a diving accident.

Mr Irwin, 44, was killed by a stingray barb to the chest while he was filming an underwater documentary in Queensland's Great Barrier Reef.

bless his soul, he was a nut case, but always seemed like a genuine and caring bloke.

I didn't believe it when I heard, but now alot of news sources are reporting it.

RIP Steve. Genuine legend. He brought big wildlife issues into the mainstream, and did his part to make the world better.

I heard it from a mate, and I didn't believe it when I heard it, thought someone was playing a joke... like the old 'haha Steve died in a car accident... haha really funny because he has lived a much more dangerous life than many yet is killed by the common car...", but then someone else completely unrelated told me he was killed as well... and now I am just looking on the internet to discover that he is actually dead...

This is a sad sad day :(

To get killed by a stingray after holding all those crocodiles and snakes with his bare hands is almost like a soldier dying because his plane crashed on the way back home from the war. This sucks man :(

yeah! totally get what you mean...oh well...at least better than being hit ny a car...he still got to do what he loves most til the end...wish that would happen to me too...during my sleep... :)

It's up to us guys to educate the younger children (and even the un-born children) of how amazingly cool Irwin was
