Stilian Petrov will no longer play for the Bulgarian National team

Stilian wrote an official letter stating his motives, saying that he will no longer play in the national team as long as stoitchkov is the head coach of the team. Also he said that a lot of things happened between him and stoitchkov since he was anounced as the coach of the national team. What are your comments on that issue????Personally i understand why he took this decision, basically he and Martin Petrov were the only two players on the team that played with real passion and gave their best in each game for the team. Without Stilian i can see us finishing 4th in our group if not worse. I will continue to admire him no matter what happens next, because he deserves it. Now let's hope that someone will shoot stoitchkov in Bulgaria so we can finally get rid of him (6)

I say Petrov is a f*cking coward. If you're gonna quit at the age of 27, at least have the balls to publicly explain why. What a disgrace, who quits at 27?

It´s a shame to see a player retire from his NT at 27 but i guess he must have his reasons against Stoichkov. We all know about his temper.

I think he has issues with Stoichkov that go beyond the Luxembourg match.

But does that need him to retire?

I think not. He would have been better off trying to put his side of the story to the coach or the press and let the fans and media make their judgements. Unless he feels the victim of unsustainable abuse (like in the case of Neil Lennon) he should have no issue to quit.

Mark Gonzalez quit international football at 21. He said as long as the coach is in charge of the team, he wont play.

I don't have a problem with that. If a player doesn't have the passion to represetn the country then he might as well don't. A class player though, easily owns O'Shea.

only when i agree with the comment and find it amusing, is that a problem??

either way, a player should be able to do what he wants when it comes to international football. if a coach doesn't like a player he won't pick him. so why shouldn't a player be able to decide he does not want to play for the NT if he doesn't like the coach?? :jambo:

it shouldn't be a problem i f he decides to play or not

edit: actually on second thought it is a bit annoying when i think about it. o'k i won't do it as much from now on. at least not on a daily basis. :ewan:

I really dont think that this will hinder our performance this much. This isn't because Petrov isn't one of your 2 best players but when under stoitchkov, he doesn't play in his position. If you watch the game against Romania, he was chasing shadows the whole game, playing as something like a DM. He's the guy that's supposed to be setting up our attacks but that never happens. IMO he made the right choice, I wish stoitchkov could get kicked out but mihaylov is the man to do it and they were both on the 94 team...not gonna happen at least until we don't make it to this euro which is in like 2 years.

Stoichkov was a good player, but he is the biggest **** in the world as a person. Good for Petrov.

There are signs that the officials of the football union will try to speak to Stilian & bring him back, but i doubt that this would succeed.

This was the same with Ginola, Cantona, etc.
They never came back. Correct me if i'm wrong, but all those "nt quitting" players are never coming back..
