Striker shot by rival after scoring winning goal

A Chilean striker was shot by a player on the opposing team after he scored a last-minute winning goal.

The 90th minute goal gave amateur club Bandera de Chile victory over rivals La Gonzalina in a bitterly disputed match.

The referee had already had to suspend the game during the second-half after rival fans brawled on the pitch.

But he decided to restart play and Bandera's top striker, El Rulo, scored just before the final whistle.

An opposition player immediately pulled a revolver out of his shorts and fired three times at the celebrating striker.

One of the bullets hit El Rulo in the shoulder. Newspaper La Cuarta reports that he was taken to Rancagua regional hospital for treatment.

Police were called to the ground, but the gunman escaped. Detectives say they know the identity of the attacker and are confident they will capture him quickly.

man, this one time when we were in elementary school, we were playing this other school away and we beat them 2-1, after the game we were expecting to all be cordial and sportsmen like but we got chased off the field by the students who were watching the game, the adults also swore at us and helped incite their kids into violence even more
