Yannick's EditPES4OptionFile makes a great convertion for PES stats from FM2005 stats. But, it still has bugs, some of them are big bugs. Then I began to improve the convertion formula by myself.
There are 4 parts of stats in PES: positions, stats(especially for from 'offence' to 'weak foot'), constitution and special abilities. I've described my formulas on positions, constitution and special abilities on thread http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?t=120035.
Position formula leads the bug list. Yannick's convertion made too many weird positions. My formula is better. I'm sure of it.
Stats formulas are too complex, so I can't make my formula simply although they have bugs. If Yannick open his formulas up, I can help.
Yannick didn't touch the constitution settings of original PES, but FM2005 does have one character for convertion: injury proneness. I make the convertion. It's better. I'm sure of it too.
Special abilites from Yannick are too many for one player. His door are too wide and some bugs in it too including 'positioning' and 'reaction'. I enforced the conditions and fixed the bugs with my formula. But, I'm not sure of them, at least half of them.
Stats are the main part of players' attributes. Yannick did well in most of the fields, while some convertion results were widely discussed. The following:
1.Wing backs' offence values are set too low.
I can accept J.Zanetti has a defence of 86, but 53 as the offence value is too low especially when he plays as a SMF. He has a 81 in original setting we know. Belletti, Ashley Cole, Riise, all of them have an offence value lower than 60, 10 points more below the original settings.
Recalculating the whole offence value is not easy. I managed to consider 'Wing back' and 'off the ball' value to superpose on it. My formula now is (I abbreviate the max of 'wing back left' and 'wing back right' as W:
if WB>=15 then 'offence' += (WB + 'off the ball')/2;
elseif WB>=10 then 'offence' += (WB + 'off the ball')/3;
2.'Aggression' is not the same meaning between FM2005 and PES
I'd suggest to consider 'off the ball' more. My theory is that most offensive players in original stats have high 'aggression'. But a good formula is out of my control.
3.'Shoot power' for Forwards is somehow too low.
'shoot power' is based on 'Long shots' in Yannick formula. That makes some top scorers such as Van Nisterooy has a significant low value, mainly because they seldom take long shots. My suggestion is to achieve different weights on 'long shots' and 'finishing' when calculate 'shoot power' for FWs and other players. That's to say, to make 'finishing' more important when getting 'shoot power' for FWs.
4.'balance' is equal to 'balance' or 'balance' plus 'strength'?
'Balance' is another thing. Some say we should mix 'balance' and 'strength' in FM2005 to get 'balance' in PES. I agree. PES has no 'strength'. Maybe it should have some contribution when challenging.
5.'Weak foot acuracy' and 'Weak foot frequency'
The pair needs to be reconsidered. Some players from Yannick's have a low accuracy but have a high frequency. That sounds a little strange. I have not thought throught on the problem.
6.'Jump' for tall players would better be brought down.
FM2005 has no attribute for players' height. It's mixed in 'Jump'. PES has height and a player with height190/jump60 is more powerful in the air than the one with 160/99. So somebody suggests to restrict the max value for players with different range of height. Such is one of the solution:
000 - 180 -> max 99
181 - 190 -> max 90
191 - 202 -> max 85
Afterall, the current stats are playable, and even more playable than the original settings. Thanks to Yannick.
