Tactical help

Hey!

In Fifa 11 I used to play attacking football with lots and lots of short ground passes and was doing very good. I was doing very good in multiplayer and on the world class difficulty. Now I'm having trouble beating anyone on professional.

What kind of of tactics do you recommend? Any teams that play that sort of football? I'm using the 4-3-3 setup. Currently using Arsenal's custom tactics - but I don't think they're the right ones for me.

In short : I'm playing offensively, lots of short ground passes and I'm using my midfielders to score a lot too.

Try the 4-2-3-1
I use it with Malaga.
I have a strong ST and LAM, RAM with high speed.
RB and LB bring a strong support to the AM.
I have tested the 4-3-3 and it sucks.

And the custom tactics? I'd rather stay with 4-3-4, I've got good players for it.

Now I'm getting pissed off, can't win a single game on professional and I was doing great on world class in Fifa 11...

Semi-pro is too easy.

Yeah, can't really play the game - it's either too easy or too hard.

:/

In Fifa 12 long shooting are easy. I scored nearly all of my goals outside the box. Especially with passed back balls. Try that. And try simply dribbling between defenders. Just won 4-0 against Peru on Legendary. Of course with a Forlán hat-trick with all goals from 20-40 yards. If you really get used to this Fifa, You'll be better than in 11.

Yeah, maybe that could help because my style is to score right from the box and it almost always fails. It's frustrating how good the defense is...unless it's yours - they're clueless.

Ok, **** this.

Can't make a bloody pass because those idiots just stand around doing nothing.

Bloody Stoke has 95% pass completion though...

Same problem here, It's frustating as the AI teams seem to all out defense with amazing tacklers...., I have tryed about 10 tactics now, but all seem to leave you with no midfield, on a 3-5-2 now but still open in the middle even though on tactics screen it looks like im over-load in there......:rofl:

Yeah, it feels like every player I have has at least 3-5 players marking him and there's wide open spaces whenever the computer attacks...

Jesus, I'm going to uninstall this game.

Perfect marking (no space for ANY passes), everyone's a perfect tackler. Can't even make it past midfield.

Stoke City has ******* 95% pass completion rate. Are you kidding me? And on top of that every cross they make seems to end with a goal. Oh and I forgot to mention everyone in their team is a ******* master dribbler, even Crouch. All of of them seem to do tricks all over the place as well (very realistic).

My defense is horrible, they are all over the place, unlike the computer's side.

And that's on PROFESSIONAL.

I don't even want to know what would happen if I played against say Manchester United.

RE

I bought this game for PS3 and it's way too hard. I have reverted to playing 11 for PC. Professional is way too hard. I win 8-0 on legendary in 11 on PC and I cant win on professional on 12 PS3.

Semi-Pro is too easy, anything else is way too hard. It's frustrating as hell. I don't know why EA thinks the only way to make their game better is to make it more difficult.

How about making a FIFA game where we can actually play like Messi and Ronaldinho. A game where the average player can do skills, not some random game freak who has somehow mastered all the skills of the game.

The tricks are always too hard, this trick stick setup with the right stick is way too hard to pull of real skill moves.

I feel like I wasted my money. And as usual bull**** game sites like IGN run around giving the god-damned game high ratings so you cant even listen to them.

I'd be fine with it if it was Legendary. As it is, as you mentioned, semi-pro is a walk in the park. Professional is just RAGE inducing. And I used to have no problems with World class in 11 (in fact I made a habit of winning with top-tier sides playing league 2-3 teams).

The game's unplayable, simple as.

And about IGN, gamespot : they have no integrity.

Anyways, maybe it's a bug? Something went horribly wrong with the professional difficulty? I mean, I tried switching to semi-pro but then I scored 6 goals in the first half and it felt just as pointless.

Oh and by the way, is it just me or do the goalkeepers make a world class save one after another?

Hey Cardiff, I was in the same boat as you so I understand where you're coming, I'll see if I can't help. I was used to playing against regularcat's AI on Legendary in FIFA 11 and could hold my own but then had the same issues as you on Professional in FIFA 12. I could score 3 goals but always managed to let in just as many if not more, and watched on more than one occasion the likes of De Jong run by 8 defenders as if he were Messi.

My suggestion to you, practice your defending. Do the interactive tutorials a few times and get used to using the Teammate Press and Jostle. Do it until you get used to it. If you try the same defensive tactics as in FIFA 11 the AI will just run right through the gaps your players leave without much difficulty. You can no longer press and tackle a player by yourself. I've gone from getting knocked around by the likes of Swansea to beating Arsenal 4-1 at the Emirates.

What ever you do don't press as aggressively as in FIFA 11. Instead of charging the AI when it's in possession try to block off it's passing routes and corner/contain it and then go in for the kill. Otherwise you'll leave yourself exposed and the AI can get in behind very easily.

Thanks for the tips mate, but I think there's something wrong with the game, is all. I'm actually even worse at attacking than at defense. I can defend fairly okay (and I'm sure it's going to improve with training), but I can't attack at all. I like to play the passing game but it's just impossible, my team is constantly poorly positioned and closely marked.

Anyway, I've played about 30 matches now, won once or twice, had a couple of draws and lost all other matches. I'm not sure there's room for improvement as I'm mostly raging while playing now. Will give up entirely soon as there's no point playing semi-pro either.

Well in that case I'll see if I can't help you out as I prefer a similar style. I've noticed against certain teams that they defend deep and practically man mark players. It forces you to be very patient. If it seems your teammates are marked out of the game you need to force the AI to open up. I usually play a few balls around the back until I can find a holding mid or a winger with space. You are also forced at times by the AI to do something individually. If you can beat a player or two with skill you generally can find a decent amount of space to run into. Eventually you will attract a few defenders to open space for teammates. Always look for space created by your formation. If the AI has clogged the midfield, use formation that allows you to exploit the wings. Vice Versa is also useful. If the AI only has two in the middle go for a formation that allows you to outnumber them in midfield. Look for any advantage you have and exploit it. Also don't force passes and be patient, and be more careful and choosy about when you play through balls, they get cut off a lot more often than in FIFA 11. Hope that helps mate, I know it was very annoying for me at first to get used to. But it's oh so sweet when you finally are able to thrash the AI and have earned it.

It looks like the game actually forces you to make tricks. I can't get past them without them. I really don't see how's that realistic - how often do you see tricks performed in real matches?
