They were our reserves too! In the second half we had
Buffon
Adani
Cannavaro (c)
Iuliano
Coco
Zambrotta
Albertini
Gattuso
Someone (I forgot)
Montella
Maccherone

We were missing Del Piero (that's actually good), Vieri (best striker in the world), Maldini. So this team is basically our reserves, just that we have depth and England don't especially in defence!

Well, I admit we lost to the better team on the night, but not the better team as a whole. We're still in a transitional period unlike Italy who are well established as a footballing power. We still have some time and some more players to check out so go easy on England.

You beat us in a friendy , am I missing something or has Italy just beaten the number one favourites for the world cup. Anyway I think we should let the Italian celebrate this memorable victory, it will remembered for years to come.

We would proably forget about it tommorow, because was only a FRIENDLY!!!!!!!!!

what really impressed me about the italian team was the excellent ball handling...england was running in circles lots of the time and I really think that the game got the right winner...England won´t get beyond the group stage in the WC if they play like this.........

exactly.well said....

if u goto see , Italy weren't even trying in the first half.....all tehy wanted was a draw.......but that defensive letdown that led to the Fowler goal really woke Italy up as a whole...Albertini was threatning.....Zambrotta was..and the icing on the cake....Vicenzo 'Aeroplane' Montella......i sure hope that Trappatoni starts off with him alongside Bobo in the WC with Del Piero right behind and Totti in midfield....would be great

Materazzi ! now he's one Daunting defender....u wouldn't want to mess with him ! ....i think Heskeys bruises speak for themselves :p

Cannavaro ....well what can i say......absolutely magnificent .....solid as a rock !

Buffon...proved himself yet again with that spectacular reflex save early in the game.....but Toldo is as classy as him .....
So no worries for Italy in the goal.....

Maldini , Cannavaro , Nesta , Materazzi ,Iuliano ,Pessoto etc .....the best defense in World Soccer hands down....

Now if Italy lack anything...its in the ...Midfield...
Di Biagio , Albertini , Coco , Zambrotta , Fiore ,Conte,Gattuso , Tomassi , Tacchinardi etc etc .........Great players......but in my opinion still lacks something ....something creative like a Zidane or a Figo. But the Defense and players like Totti , Del Piero etc make up for it.

The attack....Amazing.....Vieri , Inzaghi , Montella , Del Piero , Totti , Delvecchio , Chiesa(hopefully)..........

So WORLD CUP 2002 .....HERE WE COME !

FORZA ITALIA !:)

Senior Squad
If the match proves anything it's that England, playing fairly ****, with only Beckham, Owen (first game after injury), Heskey, Campbell and G Neville of their first choice team getting any time on the field can do okay against a nearly full strength Italian team. (Yes, Fowler is a substitute as is Sheringham - although I think England should drop Sheringham on his recent run of form - as is Martyn and James)

Not disappointed with the result, I think Italy are better than England anyway (mainly because their defense is really solid), but I must say if England get the full team together for the World Cup, underestimate them at your peril.

Also you're bound to get an edgy performance out of a team of players, hoping for a spot in the World Cup team, that have hardly played together. Imagine any team just buying in 24 different players, only 4 of them having played in the same team before and sticking them in for a match within 2 days of them meeting up, how would they do? Like England I reckon.
