Team Threads

night

I hate them. Unless you check some other websites, I don't think anyone would be bothered to check each individual team thread to read some interesting news which is buried somewhere between some random single-line posts by the team's fans..
This forum doesn't have as many posts as in the past due to this subdivision. I honestly believe we should revert to what this forum used to be without them..

Discuss.

I don't like them much... but I think we have the right balance on here. Most note worhty stories get posted in the main section.

I also post on a French forum (www.soccers.fr) and their set up is total sh*t. Best example I've seen of team threads taken too far. They have millions of sub forums... and everything is over separated. For example the EPL section: http://www.soccers.fr/index.php?showforum=37

You have team threads that are 1000s of pages long all stories that get posted in the main section you get told off for and they are closed.

As I said I think we have a good balance here, although personally I'd like to see more stories posted in the main section. If they are not relevant to you, or you don't care, then you don't post in them :D

tbh i don't even pay attention to the team threads, so i'd like to see more news in the main section, but that's me.

Tom

That Nice Guy
I'm agreeing with my main man with 89 posts here, a few more news topics in the main forum to spark some discussion wouldn't go amiss.

Still, the team threads serve a purpose, and i for one don't mind them.

Honestly, night, you can just ignore them. Ifg you want more news in the main forum then get the ball rolling. Also, if it were not for the Chelsea thread, people would not discuss Chelsea, same for all other teams, they are places for the fans to have the chance to discuss any aspect of the club, set apart from the in-jokes and noobs of the main forums. The noobs become limited to those who are fans, and those who are haters, which unfrotunately is not a big difference.

i concur with farmboy and Tom. more news in the main section of the soccer forum, but keep the team threads for the deeper team issues :jap:

My take is that Team Threads should be used to discuss all the relevant club news like youth, results and management change and so forth. The main forum should like discuss the controversial, the brilliant and the news that's making waves.

Meh. The big news gets discussed in the main section anyway. Plus there are already 3980987987 websites out there to stay on top of news if you really wanted to.

I don't mind team threads existing, they help fans follow their favorite team. The Bayern one helps me follow Bayern a lot.

I just don't like how someone would be discouraged from posting news worthy items in the main forum, just because it involves one team. I don't think many people check every team forum, so there's the potential to lose out on discussion from the entire forum on good topics.

The Legend
I made the Arsenal thread back then for talking about random Arsenal crap (small news, reserves & youth results, when the ladies team wins a cup, ect.), obviously the new worthy stuff deserves a thread.

Yeh but who denotes whether a subject is worthy of posting in the main forum.

The Main forum used to be really busy because the game threads would go off every week, now days the game threads are dead so there isnt much discussion going on in the main forum. Prehaps its due to the fact that there are more streams available..

Senior Squad
The team threads have their purpose, having the main forum clogged with loads of threads for minor news items would be ****. It will pick up again once the season begins.

Never liked them, I think they've sort of killed the main section. I think the team threads should only have information like injuries, fixture dates...just small things.

Yeh i agree, the forum used to be clogged up because of all the game threads, last season the game threads were pathetic which made the main forum dead.

Yes exactly. Football snobbery (especially when coming from glory hunters) is one of the most annoying things I can think of.

A classic example I can remember being this:
