Is there any way to get sensible behaviour from my team at set pieces in the last third?
I can't score free kicks, not on any difficulty level with any player, I've tried thousands and put away two or three in PES6, even in training I score about 1%. Now, this is a pest but what is more annoying is there is rarely good team mates to give me another option. Worse is throw ins near the corner flag. I usually play as Liverpool and if Crouch is on, he always comes short to receive the throw regardless of if he's SS or CF, it's like he feels he has to prove that he's not just a lanky string of piss. I know you're not just that mate, but it's still your main attribute, in the game at least. Get on the 6 yard line!
Worst of all is corners. My two CBs stay back, DMC and CM also usually stay back although at least close enough to challenge for the inevitable clearing header and maybe blast it (a mile over the bar) from there. Don't most real teams keep a pacey fullback or two back and get the big boys on to the 6 yard line? When I take a corner, there is usually about three team mates in the box that could challenge for a ball in, and short arses like Pennant, Bellamy, etc would be in there. Even at corners, Crouch tends to go out to the edge of the box and is very hard to get a header on to. Why isn't Agger or Hyypia or whoever in there?! Passing short is the only option that has a chance but then, why aren't the CM and/or DMC making late runs that I could play it on to?
I'm a terrible player, so go easy on me. I started playing PES when it first came out for the PC with PES3 and when PES4 came out, I quickly realised just how bad FIFA is. Still, I can't play above amateur level and I don't know how to do flicks, fancy volleys and advanced tactical stuff, so be gentle.
