Today's match was a joke. I woke up early to watch it, thought it will be interesting thing. And what I see? - 0:6. **** women's tennis, it's not worth watching anymore.

The worst thing which could happen to Nadal. But I believe in him, this guy has balls and inhuman health. He is able to handle with another 5 hour match.

You were right. Nadal won the 5th set and is the 2009 AUS Open champion.

Fed was disastrous in this 5th set, first serve, response to the opponent's serve, backhand, everything was failing. Still, kudos to Nadal. I think that in the end, he deserved it.

EDIT: Amazing scenes in Rod Laver arena as Federer bursts into tears. I'm sure he will come back to dominate the whole tour.

Federer was very talkative in fifth set. He kept blaming the referee for everything. But I have to admit he was right quite often. Great final though, but I can't say it was better than Verdasco thriller.

No it wasn't. But at least it lived up to the expectations. There were some amazing plays. I can remember a slice that Federer made that went outside the net and came in. Wow.

Federer lost the match in the 5th set. He made nearly 15 unforced errors in less than 10 games. In comparison, Nadal had less than half that number....

Disappointing wanted Federer to win, props to Nadal he's a beast. Federer's game just fell apart, he was in tears at the end. :(

We are still at the start of the year, and the moment that Fed bursts into tears and right after in comforted by Nadal, well, that surely put me with a huge smile on my face. It good to know they are rivals, but also do well with each other.

LEGENDS!!

Something tells me that Federer will go awesome mode once again. The great champions use this moments to gain even more strength.

Wow, don't think anyone saw the Nadal loss coming.

Both defending champions out on the same day, if Federer's ever gonna win it is now or never.

The door is open for him to do it right now. If he can't win it this year with Nadal out he'll never win it.

******* Eurosport showed only the last set of this battle. Nadal wasn't himself today or Soderling was that good.

With Nadal out, it won't be the same

It won't be the same

Just like Nadal, Federer is walking over a men's field that is well known to be piss poor in terms of depth. I find it hard to compare Federer to Agassi, Becker, Courier or Sampras. The latter all faced real depth......the current tour is full of prettyboys who are more interested in posing for magazines than wining titles. There's no chalenge.....and don't say Andy Murray or Djokovic because they're the modern version of Marat Safin...on, off, on, off, on, off.

Djokovic is a wimp, he complains when it's too hot, calls medical guy for help several times in a match. Murray is not better. He proved it in the last match against Gonzalez.
