FIFA 2003 also claims (on the official website) to have "total ball control". Now excuse me but isn't FIFA 2003 the complete opposite of total ball control. The CPU takes over your defense on crosses. You can only header the ball when an opponent is within kissing distance and you can shoot perfectly with the wrong foot with your back turned to goal and then watch the rebound fly back at 1,000 mph! So, we can gather that EA take a "liberal" approach to their descriptions which may translate as not always being TRUTHFUL!
Moods in the game will be nothing more than a random setting for a limited number of players where they foul for no reason at all. Hardly an "emotion engine". Perhaps they ought to concentrate on a version of FIFA that doesn't get more complaints about gameplay and lack of player control than every other previous version of FIFA in history.
The saddest thing is reading the FIFA forums and seeing so many people claim that FIFA 98 was the best version of gameplay in the series. Great eh? Five years ago was the best version!!

FIFA 2003 was so shite that it made me part with £200 on a PlayStation 2 with PES2, so that I could enjoy a football game that plays just like the real thing and has much more in the way of total ball control.
Funny thing innit... all EA care about are graphics and licences to woo the consumers, leaving the gameplay element as a complete afterthough, and yet sell millions of copies. Sod's law innit.

Just a reply to your earlier post about some of the snitty and simply awefull Forum comments about EA and the Fifa series in general.
My opinion about the Fifa series is simply this, apart from the 98 series all the rest have been horrific and inexcusable excuses for football game presentations, fair enough, but if this is the gaming standards that EA churn out release after release is it little wonder why the hard core football gamers are somewhat miffed, peeved or indeed totaly pissed off with them and then decide to vent thier anger and frustation within the walls of this forum.
The general gameplay in these games is enough to make any serious player howl in contempt at EA, and the reason?
The main reason is that after reading and hanging on to the usuall spin doctor blurb that is reamed out of the EA propaganda dept before every new Fifa release, which i admit has fooled many of us over the past few years, and then, after aquiring the latest and greatest from EA, we find tucked away behind all the fancy packaging and the hype that the promised and revamped football game isn't quite as it should be, in other words we feel and IMO badly cheated, and so it all goes back onto the merry go round in these forums, sort of like the snarling dog chasing it's tail untill the next promise of the latest and greatest from EA.
The reference to --> Konami Bitches and EA Bitches is pretty close to the mark, but let us take that into the context of the purist and the general football gamer, the purist knows and demands a realistic football game of the highest standard and will accept nothing less where as the general football gamer seems to accept whatever is tossed into the stew, but then, it's all a matter of choice hey, for the good or the bad.

I agree with every word you said in the reply. EA do not improve their games in one bit, but still, everyone has their own opinion and expectations from a game. You know... It's a free market.
If you are interested in gameplay more than graphics, you will probably buy a Konami game, and if you are interested in graphics more than gameplay (weird.. but whatever), you'll buy FIFA.
So why critisize people who prefer graphics on gameplay?! that's their own desicion, It's a democratic world and they can buy whatever they like without YOUR interfearance.

There are way more Konami fans posting in Fifa forums to tell them how good WE is and how Fifa s*cks, than the other way around IMO. Who are the fanboys than? I'm really tired of reading the same sh*t all over again about Fifa: teeth, thongs, graphics, ... I've played both of them and both games have their pros and cons and it's not restricted to WE = gameplay and Fifa = graphics. I think WE is better than Fifa considering gameplay, but even WE is not close to real football IMO. There are many things that bug me in WE too you know:
- no analog control (nowadays this should be in every game IMO)
- after adding the analog control they should add a through-pass button like in Fifa which gives you TOTAL CONTROL
over your pass, instead of the stupid troughpasses of WE which s*ck big time IMO!
- because of the bad throughpasses, it does not show how bad the cpu defense is sometimes organized! If I could make the final pass myself, I'd score 10 times more goals, because my strikers are often badly marked, but the pass is always too hard.
- the referee gives way too many cards in WE!
- the dribbling is better and smoother in Fifa IMO
- is it just me or does it take everyone so long before the power up of a lob starts? It takes about half a sec I think!
Anyways, I don't wan't to bring down the WE game, because it's a great game, but I just wanted to tell you that every game has its pros and its cons and that everybody has its own opinion about these. Is it so hard to RESPECT another ones opinion? It's not your problem that somebody else is playing Fifa instead of WE, is it? So please, let everyone decide for himself and quit the stupid jokes.

FIFA 2004 is having double that time and plays nothing like FIFA 2003 as we’ve being told from E3 playing of a pre-alpha FIFA 2004 build which was at 20% completion.
So please stop this bull crap and give EA some slack!?!?! I don't own a PS2, but if I did I'd probably have every KCET game out there!! well, not far off.
