i believe that statement is incorrect, based on the last meeting between the clubs in question (ie. Essendon and Carlton), Carlton is the superior side**

And with Essendon beating Collingwood last night, its opened back up. Percentage will have a massive part to play this year, two teams will be very unlucky and miss out only by that I think.

he didn't get votes until like round 22!

that would have to be the worst call (media) about Tredrea being the favourite. (N)

Lol I have to agree, what a dud! Tredrea was at $3 I think, he got like 8 votes, Judd got around 30 lol :D

I'm glad someone who was actually at the dinner won it, I think it was rude for them not to go (Ok, they want to prepare for the premiership, but the brownlow dinner night, with the favourite).

Anyway it would have been good if Mark Riccuito had won it! Lol he sort of came from no where and stuck with Judd till the end.

the reason treadrea didnt poll was because of two things, 1) hes a forward- he doesnt get as many possessions as midfielders and half backmen therefore not as noticable as a midfielder, which is incidently probably the biggest reason on ballers now dominate the brownlow each year, 2) Chad Cornes, racking up 23+ touches each week you will be noticed by the umpires and he definatly took around 5-10 votes off treadrea. but that doesnt take anything away from judd, great season, when you poll 30 votes you absolutly deserve to win. also riccuito polled 23 votes- and he wouldve won outright last so he still had an excellent season as well(Y)

Well port have the grand final wrapped up, cant stand seeing port or collingwood being successful, the 2 teams i hate the most.... But this is more than likely ends an era of brisbanes dominance on the game.

The darkest day in the history of Australian Rules football... and a great day for Gay Rights... how else do you explain TEAL being in a uniform?! :kader:

Some random thoughts from a Yank who watched his first-ever live Grand Final:

-The pre-match entertainment was 100x worse than what the NFL comes up with for the Super Bowl. The sight of Guy Sebastian singing "Waltzing Matilda", will give me nightmares for the next six months, while the less said about Kath and Kim, the better.

-The club songs clearly are something that need to leave the AFL forever. I mean, wouldn't it trouble someone to play "We Will Rock You" or something of that ilk before the opening ball-up?

-Speaking of the opening ball-up, the fight that took place was different class. I'm somewhat suprised that one of the field umpires didn't award a free, but then again the Port and Brisbane players were clawing @ each other w/ equal ferocity.

-As for the match itself, I was disappointed that the Lions didn't put up their dukes in the final quarter, like many great champions do when their backs are against the wall. They simply ran out of gas, and as a result, ride into the sunset failing to duplicate what Collingwood did from 1927/1930.

-What Choco Williams said during the presentation was priceless. The one thing that all of us will remember will be "Alan Scott: YOU WERE WRONG!"

Thanks to sleep deprivation, I didn't go to bed until 3.30 in the morning, and therefore failed to retain every detail of this somewhat dissappointing final.

Lol I know, I hate their gay club song too, "we've the power to WIN!"

Oh, tell me about it. The damn thing is still in my head, "we won't stop, stop, stop, 'till we're top, top, top".

Anyway, that's got me thinking. Which AFL club has the worst club song? My vote is split between the Brisbane Lions and West Coast Eagles. Why? Because the Lions one was one of many things they raped from Fitzroy after the merger (colours, nickname, etc.), while the Eagles have a fake cheer at the start and finish of theirs and they have the gall to display the words to it when they're at Subiaco.

I don't know all the songs, but the best? Carlton (H) (We are the navy Blues, we are the old, dark, Navy blues) :hump:

I don't remember Brisbanes, except, "We are the pride of BRISBANE town...", and I've never heard the Eagles one, lol. Yeah the Port one is so catchy (as in - its gay, but gets stuck in your head)
