I don't like 50-49 games. I do like games where multiple plays are called. I mean I don't want to see Bill Belichek just have Antwoian Smith run between the tackles for two yards and then punt the ball which is what he did in the Rams-Pats superbowl for the most part. That is borning.

Eli Manning = Eric Lindros Watch his career dissipate just like Erics did

lol...I can dig that comparison, bro.

I just want to vent a little here. Why was this turd-face (Eli) allowed to get away with it all soooo softly? The audacity of this family to demand that the rules be bent for them. With that twang..*well, I'm a Manning and I ain't sure as heck going to San diego" WTF? You don't get more arrogant and disrespectful than that, but because he comes from a football royalty of sorts, all the pundits, reporters are letting this twat off easy. They're saying it isn't really that great of a deal, Elway did it...blah, blah, blah. Remember Steve Francis??? The media mauled, battered and lambasted this kid for weeks on end about what he did to Vancouver, some even going as far as to wish bad luck on his career because what he did was sooo blasphemous not only to basketball, but to all of American sports in general.

I hope that Flyer's prediction comes true and comes true early

God! I hate this kid already

I think Eli will be a bust in the NFL, and won't come close to being anywhere near as good as his older brother.

You don't have to work for a company you don't like, so why should Eli have to play for a team he doesn't like; it's sounds very comparable to me. The Chargers have every right to pick him first, but Eli Manning has every right to let them know that he does NOT want to play for them. San Diego could very well have drafted Robert Gallery or Larry Fitzgerald at #1 instead.

I don't have a problem with him not wanting to play for the Chargers, I just think he went about letting them know it the wrong way. I think he (and his family) came off as arrogant and snobbish. He could have told them discretely and probably gotten his wish.

Are you out of your f ucking mind, son? Equating real world jobs with the NFL and it's draft system? You have got to be an utter idiot to be comparing the two, man. The NFL draft, a system where there are rules to be followed. The teams that have had the worst records get the top drafts in accordance with their standings. The Chargers didn't go through all that sufferage just so some punk kid and his over involved dad could shi-te all over those rules because they feel that they're above them. Having the right to choose where you go defeats the whole purpose of the draft system....why not just by-pass this silly draft altogether and have the college players available just sign with the team of their choosing beforehand???? By your logic that would be ok, right? Why can't other players who are selected by hapless teams just veto them and go to a team of their choosing? In the work place, do you choose where you work, where you stand on the pecking order of the ladder? Do you go "I don't want to be the lowly pencil pusher, I want to be a top executive?" Manning got away with this repugnant act because it's good for the NFL. New York, big market, NFL resigning a new deal with broadcastors, it's good for the NFL. He's getting millions and he can't even hold the team jersey with a pinch of class, that lousy, arrogant twat!! How can he dictate a draft like that???? I hope he becomes a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf, man

I'll reiterate, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard, seriously, man, It's all about putting a mega-star to be in a mega-market. Who's ever heard of a "laid back" southern boy dying to play football in New York anyway???

i respect players not wanting to go to a club, and it was the chargers who made this public, so eli did go about this the right way. however, this is sorta stupid. players are not above the game and its gonna be stupid if more and more players decide that they want to have a hand in the place they are chosen in. but it dont matter, the chargers got more for him then they would have had if they had kept him, so both sides got the better of this deal.

Once the parents get involved like this, its bad news. Wait untill Eli's first bad game. The whole city of New York will turn on him in a second. The New York media will destroy him, "you wanted to play here, now show us you're worth it."

No, you're the idiot. There's no rule that says the team with the first pick has to take Eli Manning. The Chargers didn't even want to take him because of Drew Brees. The only reason the Chargers were mad about this was because they wanted to trade the #1 pick and get more picks for it. Eli isn't even the concensus #1 QB in the draft; there was no reason why the Chargers should have felt pressure to take him.

The real story is how the Chargers played the Giants. The Chargers set it perfectly. They knew the Giants wanted Manning and played the Giants to their advantage. I mean San Diego would have taken Rivers if their wasn't interest from the Giants in Manning. From day one the Chargers wanted Rivers. They pretty much used Manning as a pawn to not only get Rivers but more picks as well. San Diego was never going to keep Manning. Pretty much it is simple. Eli Manning had no real control over this. He thinks he had the power but he didn't. The Chargers did. They got the number one player on their board and three extra picks including a future number one. Manning was never going to San Diego. Everything else was smoke and Mirrors set up by the Chargers.

Correct, sir. They wanted a second rounder in this year's draft, not a 5th rounder next yr

utter hogwash! Not only was he the consensus #1 with a bullet even before the combines, but he was also touted as a franchise player, not only because of his pedigree, but also because people feel that he'll surpass all of his brother's accomplishments in due time.

this only became true after the fact of Eli and his family expressing their views about not wanting to be drafted by the Bolts. I could've swore they were praising this kid like he was the next Messiah before the combines, before the draft, before the controversy, they were the ones who even labelled him as a franchise player that could turn their miserable team round in the first yr. They're only self-deceiving themselves into thinking that Rivers is more ready now or has better potential than Eli.

The draft picks are deceiving also. There is no way that next yr's draft will be nearly as deep as this yr's, no f ucking way, man. And their number one pick ( I can assure you) won't be a bluechip pick (top 10). The Giants won't be down the standings low enough for the Chargers to benefit significantly from it

Done!

I actually think the Giants will finish quite low this year. They're going to release Kerry Collins and start a rookie Quarterback. I mean, even Peyton didn't do ANYTHING in his rookie year. He showed promise, but the Colts were just terrible; I don't think the Giants should be any different this year. Plus they're in the same conference as Washington (who just ripped off Denver for Portis), Philidelphia, and Dallas. That's a killer conference this year.

But seriously though, Eli wasn't consensus #1. A lot of people believed Fitzgerald to be #1 overall. A lot of people believed Gallery to be #1 overall. Rivers and Roethlisburger were rated as the top Quarterbacks on some teams' draft boards. The Chargers could have felt comfortable taking Fitzgerald or Gallery at #1 and not trading the pick. Eli isn't that good; he gets rattled under pressure easily, and he's faster than Peyton, but still pretty slow.

Remember what Weinke did his rookie year?

Still haunts my dreams.

He was supposed to be the best QB coming out of college if i remember right, now he's behind undrafted Jake Delhomme and 38 year old Rodney Peete.

LOL. Yeah, the grandpapa playing with the kids. He had a fantastic season the yr he won the Heisman beating out Brees, Tomlinson, and Michael Vick too if I remember correctly.

lol....just thinking about broadcastors making fun of his age by saying stuff like "I wonder if he's attending classes alongside his son"

look for him to retire soon

Mr. Weinke, entered the draft as a 28yr old and retired from the NFL at 32yrs of age......lol that'l be the headline of all of Carolina's newspapers

Heh, yea.

He played minor league baseball before he went to FSU.

Still doesn't change the fact that he sucks. Muhammad has said he prefers Delhomme and Peete over him.
