We all have to think like EA Sport thinks...they add leagues that will get most buyers...like Swedish league , danish , norwiegue (cant spell it). Those 3 countrys will get more buyers than Greece, Turkey but the greek league and the turkish is alot better...We can only pray :)
And one thing sorry all japanes but I HATE K-LEAGUE!!!!!

It was like yesterday i download the fifa 2002 demo and now i will see what 2003 really is!!!

U couldnt be more wrong.

Matt has explained this before . . . Licensing problems with other leagues PREVENT EA from having these other leagues.

Obviously EA will try to put all the most popular leagues in there, i.e. leagues that target potential customers. However, all this comes to money and profits, it's all about if the costs justify the means. It's like if they put in Turkish League, paying large amounts of money for licences, but then not many Turks buy the game, they will actually make a loss in that area. Also, this is a probable reason why the Dutch Ere Divisie was not in FIFA 2002, since the population of Netherlands is not huge, and the general public (not hardcore FIFA fans like us) usually only play their own countries' league and maybe one or two others, when these facts are compared to the costs needed for the licence, they didn't see the point.

It depends on both factors really.

Poor Kostas; he'll never live this down.

BTW, I refuse to believe that there are EVER licensing problems with leagues. Individuals, yes, because they may have exclusive contracts, but leagues???

EA Sports: "Here Turkish League, we'll give you
$10,000 as licensing rights."

Turkish League: "No, we want $2,000,000."

EA Sports: "Never mind. Nice talking to you."

Turkish League: "Wait, wait, wait. We'll take
the $10,000!"

Another thing, sorry all French, but I HATE
Serie A !!!!!

I think you completely misunderstood me, when I meant general public, I meant general public of the whole world, so if the world general public is less likely to play Dutch league, then there is less of a point of doing the league. Also, you have to say the Netherlands has less population than other main footballing/gaming nations, like the UK, France, Germany...., so there's less maximum possible buying power, thus less maximum possible profit.

First of all, i totally misunderstood you! But my reply was totally informal so without hard feelings you know :) But you 're right the profit the make of the saled FIFA games in the Benelux is rather little ( 5% of the total saled games) so you are totally right!

Sorry Kostas, I really don't know what goes on with the licensing rights. But FIFA is one of EA's best franchises, so leagues WANT to be included. Exposure, noteriety and cache mean a lot. You'd have to get the answer from EA. I think it has less to do with licensing fees paid than with the time spent on research and production to get each league done well. It's probably just a question of diminishing returns: how much more money will EA make including a league versus how much it will cost them to create it.

And I know you really meant to say "J League" when you were trashing Japanese soccer. That's okay, happens all the time. Many are the times that I've been in bed with my wife and called her by another woman's name!

(PS - that last statement is obviously false. As any married man knows, you can only call your wife by another woman's name ONCE in your life, because she'll NEVER let you forget it, she'll never trust you again, and no matter how tired/drunk/drugged/senile you are, you will ALWAYS get her name right after that.)
